At least he gave out warnings...Still, retardation like this should not be broadcast on the internet...

Wow, you would think by the way both of them reacted to it spooling up, they've never flown or even touched a heli before.
Throttle hold?

Reading the YouTube comments he was so surprised because he wasn't wanting to to / expecting it to spool up at all. He was just powering on to set the servo endpoints - but the ESC was mis-configured, and he hadn't bothered to unplug the motor connectors. That is why you see him at the end of the video actually reaching UNDER the running blades to try to pull the battery plug from the spinning heli!!
Ouch.
Thats a good reason to keep your engine unplugged when you are setting up the heli.

I've been doing this whole heli thing for roughly 2 years...the first thing i learned was to unplug the motor leads and the second was to use TH...Why were these guys filming this if they had absolutely no idea what those two things were?
The common sense thing i didn't have to be taught was that you don't stick your hand in the path of an unsecured set of spooled up blades. It's great that this section of the forums exists...maybe some will gain something from seeing ding dong moves.

After the scar on my left index finger and bicep, I learned to always use a Rx Pack when setting up the heli.

I use an old tired nicad pack from a rc car. has the volts to power on the bec and servos, but not the amps to enable to motor to turn at any speed....
