Hello all, great site, great forum, great stuff! My Shuttle does a shake dance as it spools on the ground, then smoothes out and seems to go pretty nice. I still have the training gear on (only hovering through my fifth tank or so) and sometimes it starts shaking again in hover. I'll set it down, and then start over, sometimes it will not shake....hmmm. One thing I think might be contributing is that I have one (1) peice of tracking tape on one (1) blade I used when tracking the blades....I should take that off, right? Just for the record, my Shuttle was set up by an extremely patient, and thorough, local field member, and of course, he flew it like a pro! Are there any mechanics that warrant checking that tend to cause this type of thing? Your thoughts appreciated. Also, my wife thinks I need some medication because this thing is so addictive...therapy maybe? Thanks!

training gear can cause the heli to wobble at certian rpm. Usually lower rpms
Even with out the training gear on at very low rpm the heli can wobble.
Do you know what headspeed you are running?

it's VERY common for Shuttles to do that. Often, it can be eliminated by running the blades
a little tighter but the basic problem is that the landing gear is kinda tall.
Most people just learn to quickly get the rotor speed up through the 'dance'

I am very suspicious of the training gear, and can't wait to shed them. Normally, the dance stops once the head is up to speed. I am not sure what the head speed was, but a tach was used on it at the field, and nothing else was said about it.... I just get nervous when I am concentrating on a clean hover and then it starts to shake in the air again! Other than that, I am having a blast with this thing....after 20+ years with airplanes, helo's are a nice change! Great stuff.

the dance is one thing. if the machine is airborne and it starts wanting to shake itself apart,
the training gear are resonating. you'd need to change the length of the legs slightly or
modify how you mount it to the mahcine. many people use tie wraps that are too tight.

I use three rubber bands on each skid....the same ones that would hold a trainer style airplane wing on. Would the training gear also cause the heli to drift to one side? maybe due to being mounted offset/offbalance? It did none of this shaking in the hands of the experienced pilot...without training gear.
Another smaller issue, is that I seem to be a little heavy on the sticks, a left over airplane trait. There is no foul in adding a little expo in the right stick is there?
Thanks!

Take off the training skid.... Shuttle is such a nice and stable machine. I took off my training gear on my 15th tanks. And I must say it is much much better without it on. Off course, initially I was a bit nervous taking off the training skid, but after trying wihout it on a few try at very low lift off ie. about 1 ft from ground, I started gaining back my confidence to take it higher and higher. And now I am on my 45th tanks and improvising my figure 8 circuit, without any casualty, since the very first take off with the same machine. Try it out and you will understand what I mean by that.
The Red Swiss look Shuttle Plus is my first shuttle unit and has 45 tanks on it, using it to start flyin heli from the very first day until today (all by myself as I dont have any coach to teach me flying heli - but I ve been in RC plane for 4 years) whilst the Airwolf body is also a shuttle plus but never flown it yet
