Hi all,
I am planning to change the bearing on my 2 stratuses. The reason for that is a lock out i had today on one of them. I don't know what to think. I've been flying this heli for more than 8 months with no issues. I flew it today for 2 tanks with no problems. while I was landing just a few feet of the ground (less RPM mind you) i had no control over the heli.
I have to mention hearing some kind of noise for the last 2 weeks. I think that noise made me conclude that it's a bearing problem.
Do you agree?

checked your start shaft bearings , then I'd be looking at the clutch dampner rubbers ...

After that
The engine rear bearing, just pulled my OS70 apart and the rear bearing is total cactus.
Double check all your frame/boom bolts for tigheness. Look for any discoloured engine oil residue which might point you towards 2 parts rubbing against each other.
Double check the skids, make sure that the grubscrews are still tight.

I'd check the clutch dampeners first. If your engine allignment is off just a bit, or you have too much gap they will not last. I would not replace all the bearings, if you find one that clearly has a problem change that. Unless you crash, for the most part the bearings last a very long time.

The bearings go threw a lot of heat coming off the engine. Sometimes the loctite will brake down over time. Your block may have came lose off the driver and the bearing may have came lose in the block.Take it a part and rebuild the clutch also the triple bearing block may have came lose too.The gap between driver and fan about 30 thousands. GOOD LUCK ANY PROBLEMS CALL MA. WILL HELP.

It turned out the screws for the front A frame were loose; one was missing. It was the last thing to suspect. The lower bearing for the clutch driver block was coming of the block, so i locktite it. I hope this will do it. thanks guys.
