I know that this is a stupid question. The rubber comes with the hatori sb17 one side is thicker than the other. What’s the since of that? Which side of this rubber gasket goes between the muffler and the bracket and why? And the other question is that the bracket screw holes are not center with the main hole. So should the longer side of the bracket go backward or to the from?

The thicker side of the grommet goes between the pipe and the header. You can turn the header either direction but I always make it go forward to keep from having to cut so much off of the shroud. You will still have to trim a little off of the shroud to make it clear totally but it's not much.
