I am new to helis.

I am having a hard time setting up the tail of my x-400. The flimsy wire pushrod doesn't appear to work all that well. I am not sure how to align the whole rear end. I have a telebee 500 gyro, but i think that my problem is mechanical. What type of lubrication should I use?

I think that I would like a different pushrod. Should I get the trex tail servo mounts and the after market carbon push rod for it?

Please let me know how all of you have set up your bird's tail system.

Thank You,
Eric Phillips

i have an mx400 pro-i think the only difference is the aluminum tail case-i too had a hard time freeing up the plastic parts-i took them apart several times and kept working the arms back and forth with lite oil-it finally seemed ok-the hobby shop guy set it up and hovered beautifully
i used light oil-3 in one oil
also had to ream out the ball link
some guys are using the boom mounted servo??
my tail gearbox needs a bearing so i am waiting for parts
they should have a tail system worthy of this chopper-the tail seems too cheaply made

I moved my servo to a boom mount and hooked up an align cf linkage. They come 2 in a pack and you can set it up to have ball links on both ends. That mod is cheap. $9 for the alumi servo mounts and $3.50 for the pack of servo links.

That is exactly what I was envisioning. Does it handle pretty well? Where did you pick up those handy parts from?

It handles great. The parts are for the align trex and you can get them at your lhs or at www.helidirect.com.

I moved my servo to the boom slung on the under side with mounts that came with a set ao align booms and made my own CF push rod with spare Trex rods and links and some .125 CF rod that I use for spar in foamy wings.
The servo has survived two crashes without damage and the $2.00 home built pushrod is hanging in there too.

i test it out this weekend-wish me luck-this will be my 5th time trying to get this chopper off the ground without losing any parts or crashing
