Well a few days back was out tossin the L14 around, trying some new tr blades, later found badly out of balance...sudden high freq buzz and then no tail control. Luckily was able to auto,,,tailcase worked its way in making the belt non existent basically. Now using the Mikado open taibox you use two or actually four halves to secure it to boom. Well awhile back I had ordered some clamps from Nennos in germany, their original purpose to hold either horizontal or vertical fin. With one single 3mm washer on both sides the measurement was same as the upgraded plastic ones from the open tailbox. But the better part being metal they will not slip on the boom and keep that tailcase secure and in position no matter what! I also noticed the belt tension is staying exact, must have always been working its way in slightly enough to not real notice. Anyhow here is a picture, with the tail rotor hub he makes it really looks nice and is a very nice upgrade. The clamps are like 4 Euro each. The best part is, if something goes sideways in the air in regard to a tr hub losing a peice of material or a tr blade at least I have a chance of landing with tail control rather then a pirouette of death, lol. I feel much better having these on there.

Looks like a good setup. What tr blades are you trying? I've measured mine and want to know are they measured overall lenght or from mounting hole to tip? Wanting to get some more tail authority myself!

Well I am using the MAH 90mm ones on my current flying ship. I just got some NHP 85s in and they look nice, I will give those a try. SAB 80mm are a good tr blade, but do not hold well enough. The 90s certainly do hold well, I think the NHPs will do as well since they are much wider than even the MAH 90mm ones.

Would it be possible to run 92mm radix blades do you think?

(I have them at home, so I thought I gonna try them on when I get me self a logo 14 in a few weeks)

Yea 92s would be fine I assume, I am not going to go past 90 myself though.

Shawn

Do you have the p/n for the mikado open tail box? I guess Chp's tailboom clamps would work well with the mikado's open tailbox?! What's your take on this ?

Neal,

#3062 is the open tailcase, I really like it for the ease of checking belt tension and inspecting the condition of the belt. As far as custom heli parts boom clamps I am not sure to be honest you would have to know the measurements to compare to the ones that come with the 3062 box, I have only tried and am using the ones I got from Nennos out of Germany, they look and fit good. If you or anyone can tell me the measurements for the CHP ones I can compare against the ones I got with the tailbox and let you know asap, cheers.
