View Full Version : Throttle hold switch and aborting an autorotation

So I'm practicing my autorotation approaches with a JR x9303, my Trex 500 and 450 SE V2, and I ran into a snag... Apparently when the throttle hold switch is flicked back off to spin up again, it went into soft-start mode. I started this particular auto way up and when I flared and then took off throttle hold, it left my poor heli floating about 10 feet up waiting for the headspeed to kick in!! Well needless to say I crashed, luckily no damage whatsoever.
(I guess you could call it a landing, except it did tip over :YeaBaby:)

Do I have to turn off soft-start in the ESC to make this work? The autos were going so great I don't want to stop practicing. But when I flutter it down for more than 10 seconds I can't get power back quick enough to abort...I have the radio "Hold Delay" set to 0.5s by the way.

Help!

YOu have to figure out how to avoid that based on your ESC. You may have to disable soft start, or set TH to hold some low throttle setting, or don't do such long autos (some ESCs don't trigger softstart for a set period of time at low/off throttle).
