View Full Version : T-Rex tail rotor spins but not main blade

:?: Hi all,

I hope this is an e-a-s-y question for someone to answer. Today I spun up my T-rex SE (I'm still trying to tweak the GY401 to stop spinning the heli like a top) and it was going fine for the first few start ups. Out of the blue, the main blades wouldn't spin but the tail rotor is going great. The main shaft spins freely in both directions. Can that possibly be that the bearing in the main gear let loose? I did replace the main gear a while back and I put loctite on the bearing when I installed it.

Advice, please. Thanks.

Steve

I removed the main shaft & main gear. Inspecting the main rotor housing, it appears that there may be a machine screw missing from the housing. There's a hole in the housing that lines up with a hole in the top of the main shaft... I can see straight thru it.

So now, does anyone know which screw this is? And where it's available? Is it threaded on one side of the housing? There's no place for a nut like there is in the plastic rotor housing of the XL.

Thanks,

Steve

Yes, it was the screw in the main rotor housing (M2x12mm socket screw & 2M nut). Fortunately, I had one in my kit.

Lesson learned: When you're advised to 2x check and loctite all screws in a pre-assembled part - DO IT!

Now, back to that ornery gyro!

Steve, it sounds like the gyro is reversed. There is a switch on the to of the gy401 to reverse it.
