Well today I get home to the excitement of a new package from HeliDirect, a new 4 in 1 for my Blade CX which I havn't flown in weeks now. Eagerly I opened it up and set it up, and began to fly it in my friends back yard. The wind conditions seemed fine, there was hardly even a breeze and it seemed to fly beautifully. About half way though the flight I got it just higher then the fence but I didn't worry I was still in total control. It climbed a little higher so I eased up on the throttle, but it was still raising. Before I know it its above the neighbor's 3 story house (hes got a walkout basement) and I'm madly trying to bring it back to me giving it full backward cyclic and only about 1/4 stick throttle finally it seems to start coming down so I decide I'm going to try and land it in my neighbors backyard. Well three story's up for no apparent reason I see something black fly off and the whole heli tips on its side and just drops from the sky

Damage report
inner shaft
outer shaft
all 4 blades
receiver crystals bent (not sure if its salvageable yet)
canopy ripped

and I havn't checked my electronics yet

All in all does this sound like mechanical failure or the wind(maby their was more above the house)? The part flying off seems to just scream mechanical failure

Sorry to hear about your crash. I may know what happened when you saw some thing fly off. It was most likely a pice of your blades as the two sets of blades can hit each other in mid flight in windy conditions. ASK ME HOW I KNOW lol! Hope you get it up and running soon. :arggg:

Yeah thats probobly what happened. I think it should be back in the air by tomorrow cause its better then I first suspected I already have the blades all I need is the inner/outer shaft and I can tape up the canopy. The electronics are totally fine.

That is really not an outside helicopter unless there is ZERO wind.

As for the outa controll climb, the cx can will go full or no thrtl in a lockout and that black was most likely blade to flybar hit.
as for flying out side, I fly mine out side as long as the wind is 1mph or less. :badair: and the thing moves. I have flown in 2mph but its a handfull, doing fig8's is tuff in that condition. pluse the wind will make it balloon up fast. but exen with 6 cp helis the cx is still a joy to fly. Dont try this cuz I said it but in slight breaz I have taken my cx up to full alt (my links are moved out 1 hole on servo arms) start forward flight and drop to about 3/4 stick to pick up speed and as it starts to pitch up from ff i give full thrtl and full aft cyclic to flip it in the wind. First time was an opps when I was first flying the cx :) . Id say just fix and keep flying, the cx can take a beating.

hey buddy i just read your post only had my cx2 for about a month now flying mainly in my living room been chomping at the bit to take it outside..so one day i thought gee its not windy so i started it out on my hot tub cover slowly but surely before i knew it it was going back by my barn and there was nothing i could do so i cut the throttle and bingo broken landing gear cracked body...went back and repaired the thing tried outside again about a week later on a day i thought there was no wind as soon as i got up over the gutters away it went again hit a tree fell 30 feet to the ground..and bingo broke two blades broke the tubing on my brand new upgraded super skids and a very bent fly rod......along with two broken blades id say this little bird is a zero wind machine for sure.....even with my upgraded xtreme tail its not good in wind.....any way i thought id pass this along along still flying im addicted to this little toy....!!!!

I have my rig with upgrade with bladecx2.com parts for blade strikes etc but outside are killer. it just have hard time to keep up with it.

I seen some video who do out side but they must be whole a lot better operator than me. inside flying a fine with me but outside is dangerous.

I think I will fly better with my cx2 and get better heli for outside... probably that long way down the road right now

Funny story about my CX. One winter night my brother and I went outside in the alley, he in his coat and boots, me in my jacket and slippers. I proceeded to fly around by the porch light getting higher and higher when all of a sudden i had forgot about the wind and the heli starts heading south. Not wanting to drop the throttle and dump it we ran around the neighbors house to the front of the street to see where it was, it was getting higher and higher so I gave it about 1/2 throttle and tried to ease it down, well the wind kept pushing it and in a few seconds it was over houses a block over. I definitely didn't want to rescue it frojm a roof in January so I kept it in the air high enough to get into the next srtreet and hopefully dump it there. i gave ittoo much throttle and it disappeared into the night with my brother and i chasing it down the street. We could still hear it in the air, but had no idea where it actually was so we kept running after it, i was trying to bring it down slowly, but instead lost it after it went over the train tracks 4 blocks away from our starting point. Well my slippers couldn't get up the incline where the tracks are and i kept falling face first into the snow because i was holding the transmitter. by that time i was pissed so I just dumped the throttle and walked home, my brother unbeknownst to me stayed and searched around. 20 minutes later i am sitting around just steamed at my own stupidity when my bro walks in with the heli in his hands, one skid was broken and thats all, the snow must have cushioned it, or it must have already been close to landing when i dumped it. we cleaned off the snow and let it dry out and flew it again, this time in the basement.

that is awesome story...

so do you think CX2 never should go outside? I seen too many at utube that people are able to fly..

I flew mine outiside all the time, just not too high.

This past August, I had my annual pool party. Well a lot of alcohol and people know I fly heli's and they all want to see....out comes the CX. I was showing off great...they don't know it's easy compared to the others lol. I landed it on the top of my large table umbrella.....it slid all the way down and I recovered just before it went into the pool! People laughed and claped and I was so psyched and confident I felt bullet proof. So then I do the smart thing......hey, lets land it on the diving board. Well I touched down perfect landing! Again, cheers.....so I take off and bloop......it slips right into the water! LOL! Talk about laughter then! Even I couldn't stop laughing.

That was back in August and my poor CX is still dead.....I'm sure it needs new 4-in-1 and servos.

Man I loved that thing!
