Hey all, just wanted everyone to know that Doc came through his back surgery with flying colors...went under about 7:30AM and was taken to the recovery at about 11:45AM. Much shorter time than his Doctor expected...was in recovery about 2 hrs before being moved to a room so Sherry and I could see him. When I left he was still very doped up and in a consideral amount of pain but could feel his toes on his right foot for the first time in about 6 months...
he just wanted me to thank everyone for the PM's and the such before his surgery...

good news! Thanks for the heads-up.
We're so pleased! Doc has become a good friend over the past year and I know that he's had a lot of problems. We send best wishes for a speedy recovery from all his friends at Wren Turbines here in the UK. We were talking about him and thinking about him yesterday ..... the world is getting smaller, thanks to the internet.

Thanks to everyone for their kind words, thoughts and especially the prayers.
Dr. Rozran "Roz," who is my orthopedic surgeon and a heli flyer, btw, walked into my room at about 0700 this morning and asked if I wanted to be a p**sy and spend the weekend or go home with a fistful of Percocet. Guess what choice I made :D .
On the bad side of the story, I won't be able to sit in a vehicle for more than an hour for about three weeks, so I will miss (and, I mean really miss) all of you at IRCHA, however, as I promised Will, we will be at Blacksheep in September and also hope to make Dalton, also in September. He used a new protein called BPM to speed up the fusion process and it takes about three weeks for it to work well enough to do a lot of things.
On the good side of the coin, the surgery went extremely well, lasting about 4 hours as Sherry and Greg told me. Also, on the GREAT side, is the fact that I have put my papers in to retire from the government permanently this time and, as soon as the dust has settled on that and we sell our house here in MD, we are headed down to the Greenville area, probably somewhere in the Pickens/Easely area. While we were down at Blacksheep last September, we absolutely fell in love with the area and had made our decision then, but I had planned on working another couple of years up here. The surgery and the circumstances that lead up to the surgery convinced us that retirement now was a better idea.
Again, our most sincere thanks to all of you for you well wishes, thoughts and prayers.
Doc and Sherry

Update:
Doc's Doctor gave him the choice of staying hooked up to an IV for pain meds for the weekend or take a big handful of painkillers home with him and leave today...I am sure I don't have to which choice Doc made...so he is at home now recouping...
I think he might have Sherry bring the laptop up from his workshop so he has internet access...so you might here from him soon...

BTW, my very sincere and special thanks to a true friend and my only "little brother," Greg. Greg, even though you are a "drunken womanizer (private, inside joke that couldn't be further from the truth)," dude, you are one super friend and have NEVER let me down...and, for that I will always be grateful.

So soon that Doc actually managed to post before you did, Greg!! You can't keep a good man down, especially when he's got a good woman by his side!
All the best to all of you,
Sara and Roger

Hey Doc, I've been passing a former driving range on SC 29 that is up for sale, 100 Acres is the size posted. Might be a passable backyard flying field. There is a house standing on it, but no idea of the condition. I was actually going to look and see if I could afford it, but I'll get the number next time through for you and give you a heads-up on it...
Its about midway between HC's place and Blacksheep

Hi Will,
I've been working a lot of overtime on an Air Force HH60-G project. I've been working at the home base for a change which makes it nice to watch my kids grow!
In 3 weeks I'm heading back out west to China Lake till about mid Dec. So, I guess I'll be missing IRCHA and anything else in the east during that time. It's been so damn hot in my area that flying is a miserable thing to do these days. :(
