I like your edit better. :)
You have to think about the computer as the new "darkroom".
Most of what is done on a computer now days was either done on camera when the shot was taken usually through trial and error or was done in the darkroom the same way.
Computer photo editing to me is no different than what I used to do with film and paper.
It is just easier and faster in a lot of ways.

Exactly, Jason. In fact, that is what I tell my clients. My "computer" is my darkroom and it truly is. Plus, I like the control I get over my photos.
I also prefer it to the darkroom.... I hated darkroom work, but really enjoy the computer darkroom.
