Looking at slightly used Stinger 50 and I have two questions.

1. Where the idlers slip in the main frame for the tail belt....are those to be slotted for the idler shaft to seat into? One side of the frame has a chunk gone out of it and both sides seem really loose to me.

2. The main gear has one spot that is tight and a little bit "gritty" feeling, is this normal.

I'm thinking that the main frame will need to be replaced.

I'll try to help.

The shafts for the idler wheels do go into slots.
The slots open end is toward the inside of the frames.
The shafts are a fairly loose fit in the frames, it is the belt tension that holds them in place.
Can you post a pic of the frame side with a "chunk" gone out of it?

The main gear mesh in not adjustable on the 30/50.
Gritty is not good. However, occasionally some gears do have a tight spot the will wear-in in a few flights.
Since you mentioned a "chunk" missing from the frame it is possible that there is some old crash damage causing the tight or gritty spot.

The chunk is missing at the end of the slot. I don't think it's enough to hurt anything. The slop in the idlers is because the belt is loose. Think I'll try to catch up with Big-Al.
