Is there any wy to know if your receiver works? I have never used this receiver, but have misplaced my DSC cable and can not try to change the frequency by direct connection.

However, when power and servos are connected to the receiver, there is no resistance to moving the servos at all, which leads me to believe they aren't receiving power from the receiver.

I have never seen the "WFSS" LED on the side of the receiver on at all. Is this normally on or does it only flash when receiving a frequency change signal?

Any help appreciated...

Jim

When the power is on and the reciever is sending signals to the servos. You will not be able to move them by hand unless you twist them really hard and strip the gears.

Go the menu to set the frequency in the transmitter. Have the receiver ( G3) power off.
Now select the frequency you want to use. Then push the button to transmit the frequency to the receiver. After about the second beep from the transmitter when it is transmitting info to the receiver. Turn the power on to the receiver (G3). You will then get a message on the Transmitter that the process failed when it finishes. Now tell the transmitter to transmit. Everything should work and the RX will be on the set frequency till you need to change it again.

Fixed. I had plugged in my receiver to one of the plugs on my heli and could not get it to sync. I realized that I had plugged my G3 in to the charge lead from my Futaba HD switch and not the switched "out" lead. Wanna know why I got scared? LiPo and Duralite Reg...I was afraid I had just sent 7.something volts and fried my receiver.

Turns out the reason it would not sync is my MacBook Pro was sitting on the table too. 802.11 apparently interferes with the sync process. I even took it out back in the yard to try to eliminate possible interference and no go. Of course, when I look on my Mac, I see 11 wireless nodes in range, so that my have something to do with it too...

Anyway, found Phaedrus's post on setting freq, turned off the WiFi on my laptop, synced right up.

Figures...my fascination with hi-tech makes me one of the dumbest people around...

Fluorescent lights interfere with the WFSS, WiFi interferes with it....with a little more investigation, I'm sure we'll find that harsh language interferes with it! :)

I kid, I kid....I love my G3! :)

see the thread I started.

spectrum analyzer picture of the 14mz changing freq

I think this will help some, I show the 14mz in a change freq from 38 to 41.
The output when it does the freq change is very low compared to when it is transmitting. I used a un-calibrated probe so the number are off.

It transmits on channel 11 to send the info over to the RX during the change.
Read my thread for a little more info on un-controlled tests I did during freq changes. I am going to do a full scan during the freq change and see if there is other stuff happening.

Also going to find the BFV battery fail level on the rx. This may vary some from one rx to another.
