Hi folks, check out this heli - Just got mine from www.bphobbies.com It came in a nicely designed box with a nice color cover owner manual, good looking 4-channel FM transmitter, 2-cell 800 mAh Lipo pack, Li-Po DC charger, 2 pairs of rotor blades, and a tool package.

When I lined up the coaxial Dynam Vortex heli next to my Blade CP and MX400/Trex450 Hybrid, the Dynam Vortex heli fit in the group really well. The second thing caught my eyes at first sight was the included transmitter. The chrome plate on the front makes the transmitter look like an expensive computerized transmitter. see picture below.

The owner manual contains information about general RC heli guides, operating the Dynam Vortex heli for the first time, testing and adjusting, controls for the Dynam Vortex Heli, Vortex heli components, transmitter, battery preparation and installation, balancing and adjusting main blades, beginner flying lessons and Dynam Vortext heli part listing. The included Li-Po charger was also impressive – there are three light indictors for power, charging and full states.

The only a little thing that kind of took away some of my first impression at the moment was the front body got broken on the top during shipping. The plastic front body is very thin and fragile – easy to crack. I am sure if I called BPhobbies, they would send me a new front canopy right away. But it was a minor crack and it was not a big deal. A few pieces of clear tape took care of it nicely.

The Dynam Vortex heli owner manual spells out exactly what needs to be done step by step for initial set up including how to adjust the aileron and elevator control push rods, balancing the center of gravity (CG) and how to track the main blades. The electronic components were installed and set by the factory and adjusted for basic flying. I took off the front canopy and did a few checks. The only thing that I wanted to point out was the front part of the back body was very close to swashplate ball links which could interfere with swashplate movements. So, I opened the front part of the back body up just enough to give room for swashplate to move freely. Everything else was fine. I didn’t have to do any mechanical adjustments. All I had to do was adjusting the rudder, aileron and elevator trims and got it fly in 5 minutes.

I started to spin up the Dynam Vortex in my living room without the front canopy on. I turned on the transmitter and then connected the battery. The 4 in 1 was armed with no problem. The Dynam Vortex heli flew nicely without any major problem. The only thing I noticed was it was a little sluggish at first when I moved it around or corrected the rudder. A couple drops of Trinity oil and adjustment took care of the problem.

After I put the front canopy back to get ready to fly, I was having a problem connecting the battery and the receiver connectors. The wire from the battery got caught up inside the canopy. I wished the battery connector wire was just little longer. Besides that, this little yellow Dynam Vortex heli took off and flew like a Coast Guard helicopter.

Plus Side
Price is very reasonable compared to other comparable coaxial helis
Real scale looking body is very attractive
Easy to set up and adjust
Easy to fly for beginners
True RTF heli
All parts and electronic components seem to be in good quality

Minus Side
The front canopy is too thin and fragile - easy to crack
Battery connector should be just a little bit longer for easily connected
Replacement parts are not yet available at most LHS (at least where I live )

just after lift off the heli spins wildly counter clockwise. to correct this i adjusted the rudder trim all the way to the right and it only slowed it down. so i adjusted the prop mixer pot all the way to the right and it slowed it down a little more, i still have to hold the rudder about 3/4 of the stick travel to the right to make the heli stay straight. i took it all apart and oiled all the bearings and shafts even the pinions and spurs. still it spins counter clockwise. if i take out the motor that drives the lower set of blades and give them a spin they spin quite free. only thing i can figure is the motor must be binding internally.

any one else had this problem?
