I have a Panasonic FX-8 with Mega optical image stabiliser. I have heard that using th stabiliser feature may actually worsen the blurring effect. My latest batch of pics were very blurred (the image stabiliser was on) and the mounting, trim and tracking set up correctly. Could the image stabiliser be the cause of the problem?

I think those stabilizers are meant to help in a normal hand use context, not to dumpen the high frequency vibrations of the heli... it could be interesing if someone could elaborate this...

Depends on who's version you use. Nikon touts the VR2 setting for "shots from moving vehicle" which could cover high frequency vibes.

I use the Lumix with mega O.I.S., and the effect is much improved over non-stabilized shots in my testing. Best way to find out how your setup handles OIS is to take a couple of flights.

Also, I use Panasonic's OIS mode 1 setting, as the mode 2 doesn't seem as helpful for stills.

Here's one from our pasture, taken Saturday.
