Hi,

Building a Lepton EX but found that both tailcase bearings feel notchy when a little axial play is introduced(like when putting tension on the belt).

Took the assembly apart and this is true for both bearings.

Any of you guys noticed this?

Any ideas, should I just continue and accept this

Marc

fwiw..

Mine felt a bit stiff/notchy as well, went with it, smoothed out after a couple flights...

I have heard of this and my understanding is that some of the tail cases the anodizing was to thick and when the tail case is screwed together the inner races of the bearings get side loaded to much by the pulley. The fix is to file the anodizing off of the inside of the tail case sides where the bearing flange sits.

Thanks for the replies.

Bob - They even feel notchy when unscrewed. You remark is valid though and I solved it by removing some of the anodized material from the inside where the outer rage is fixed in the aluminium tail case using a 400 grid sandpaper wrapped around a pencil.

Still a bit notchy but definately better. I did not want to overdo it and leave the bearing rattle in the case sides.

Thanx again.

Bob, brilliant videos keep up the good work
