Fwiw,,
As I play more with the lepton, I'm beginning to think a way to make the belt less sensitive to tension issues would be adding an idler similar to Rex/Raptor to tail pulley housing..An aftermarket house could make a pair of carbon plates, add the necessary space for the idler, and use a flanged pulley from ARK 400 for example...Any Thoughts?

I like it!
I did get all my belt issues solved but it required a little mod to the frames for the boom blocks. Supper happy now but I think an idler might help the ringing int he boom (which now is VERY minimal).

Hey Bob,
Can you explain exactly what you did to hlep fix the problem?
I'm guessing he elongated the 8 mounting holes so the 2 boom blocks can slide higher up the frames. The tail belt rides on the low portion of the pulleys and main gear. By raising the boom blocks, the belt moves closer to center.

Is anyone having problems keeping the belt tight? I have been playing around with it alot today trying to get rid of a horrible vibration. I had thought the main shaft may have been slightly bent after a hard auto which had bent the spindle. After replacing the main shaft she was smooth as glass. then after a quick flight(adjusting throttle curves I lifted off again and the vibration was back. Then I landed and took off again and the vibe was gone. Then it came back! After getting home I tightened the belt again and the vibe is minimal but I can see it in the skids.
I have marked the boom now and will see if it actually moves. Thinking about ordering a new set of blades to try out. Any Ideas?
Thanks,
Mike

nogod, while this my not be your problem I had the EXACT same problem. The vibe would come and go. I scratched my head and tinkered for 2 weeks on this. As a last resort a friend of mine which has a lepton loaned me his blades and BANG.... problem gone! I have flown about 15 times now with this set of blades and the vibration is completely gone. I did everything I could to balance the blades (which were about spot on anyway using a standard blade balancer)
Anyway I am not saying you have the same issue but it SURE sounds like exactly the issue I had. The first time it showed up I pulled out the dampeners and oiled them like the manual says. It went away for a flight then returned the 2nd flight about 1/2 way through. I played with belt tention and belt tracking.... Bottom line sometimes it would be fine and other times vibes.... The more I fly the worse it got.... e.g. if I went into the hover and didnt have a vibe, if I took off and did some flips, loops, etc I would start to hear the belt ringing in the boom, come into the hover, and YEP... vibration is back! Towards the end I couldnt get a full flight in without the vibe returning. After putting on my fiends blades I have not had it return.
I have sent the blades into MRC for replacement and they will look at them and investigate. The theory is the cord wise CG is somehow changing possibly and I dont have a good tool to check cord wise CG.

Sounds like I need to try a new set of blades. I am the only one in my area with a Lepton as of yet. And MRC is out of stock. I think I will have to wait it out. I can tighten the belt and the vibe decreases but it still there and then gone. Right now would be a great time for SAB to push out some 425's. Thanks for your help.
