Plug them in and leave them until the lights go off. They will then be fully charged. They should be good for quite a few flights after that. :)

The reason I ask is that the lights get dimmer and dimmer but never seems to go out entirely. I have ~8.2v (7.6 w/1amp load) on both rx packs after leaving them on the charger the past 12hrs. 12.3v on tx. I'm doing some test flying today so we'll see what happens.

That should be enough. Enjoy MANY flights Dan!! :)

If you notice, When you plug the source power up to the charger with no charge leeds in the charger, ALL of the lights light up very dimly (At least they do on mine) !

Have you ever had the voltage go up on you after a flight? I was 8.18 and now I'm at 8.34... this can't be possible unless there's some funky physics going on. Maybe the tester isn't accurate?

Dan , I got a false reading once when i did not plug it in all the way and then aplied the load test. I re-tested and realized what I had done.

Maybe that's what happened... Thanks ;)

I get it going up after the first flight sometimes. Remember Clint I did the other day when you were there. It is not tha tmuch though. Only .01 or .02.
Duralites ROCK, you will love them Dan!!

I think I must have a bad load tester. Last night before I went to bed I checked both rx packs and both had over 8.2v... (one at 8.34) now both have 7.6v ( below no fly w/1amp load ). I wanted to get in a flight or two before work. This is beginning to frustrate me slightly because I've never had such inconsistent results with batteries and now I have no quick way of swapping out the tester or borrowing someone else's locally to confirm.
I'm not very happy at the moment :( ... batt's are back on the charger and we'll see if the tester says they're flyable after I get home from work. It looks like I won't be flying at lunch time either :(. Do you think temperature could make them fluctuate so much? I hope not because then I'd have no reliable way to read them.

My 9Z shows the tx pack still up @ 12.0v with no use (went down from 12.3 when I checked it last night after a full charge).

Dan, The "no fly" voltage is 6.9 volts, not 7.6. The battery freshly charged should load with 1 amp to around 7.8-7.6~. Give Rachelle/Jack a call at Duralite with your concerns and they will help you out. You may have a problem with your voltage tester if anything.

I think I must have a bad load tester. Last night before I went to bed I checked both rx packs and both had over 8.2v... (one at 8.34) now both have 7.6v ( below no fly w/1amp load ).
That is perfectly normal with the batteries. Fully charged with no load the batteries will read 8 to about 8.4 volts. With a 1 amp load and fully charged they will read 7.5 to 7.9. All the packs will not read the same, the cells are matched in the packs equally. That is why some packs will read different from another pack.
With what you described above, I would have no problem using the batteries. They are ready to use for many flights.
6.9 Volts with 1 amp load is the suggested stop fly voltage. I have flown the batteries down to 6.5 volts with a 1 amp load. There is no problem going that low.

I didn't explain clearly enough - I left out an 'and' that changes the meaning quite a bit:
Last night before I went to bed I checked both rx packs and both had over 8.2v... (one at 8.34) now both have 7.6v ( below no fly w/1amp load ).
should have read:
Last night before I went to bed I checked both rx packs and both had over 8.2v... (one at 8.34) now both have 7.6v ( and it goes below no fly w/1amp load ).
I do understand no fly is at 6.9v w/1 amp load, but I didn't state that clearly enough. I wish I had another tester - but no one near me has duralites that I know of. I'll give duralite a call and describe the situation now. Sorry for the confusion.

I'd say 6 hours. That's what I think I read in the instructions for the 4000mah pak. I just received my first Duralites yesterday. Didn't need much of a charge, but I'm looking forward to giving them a try this weekend! I'm tired of fly 3 flights, charge 30 min. ditto ditto ditto. Too much wasted time charging. I went all out and got 4 in 1 charger, a/c adapter, 4000mah rx pak, switched regulator, digital load tester...the whole nine yards. I may be selling some field chargers very soon :)

These packs are GREAT!! I don't know exactly how many flights I can get yet because I haven't hit the no fly zone in a single day's worth of flying. After swapping out the volt meter / load tester I'm flying with no worries at all!
Thanks to all our excellent Duralite reps who chimed in and helped out!
And especially, thanks to Mr. Clintstone for all the time you spent with me on the phone and at the field shootin' trouble to get this sorted out!! :glasses2:
