Hi Guys,

Whille building my HDX450SE I noticed the the washout arms seemed to have a lot of play. If I moved the flybar paddle I could see a lot of movement at the washout. After a while I found that the ball bearing in the washout link was moving. The reason why is because the link that connects to the swashplate has a split or fork in it and goes up and to both sides of the ball bearing in the washout arm. The problem is that both forks are threaded. So when tightening the bolt that goes through the link and captures the bearing it tightens up on the outside fork next to the head on the bolt. What really should be happening is that the bolt should go through the first fork in the link then through the bearing and then thread into the opposite fork.

So I carefully drilled out one of the link forks and left the threads on the other side,. Now when I reassembled the washout when I tightened the bolt the bearing is now retained solidly within the washout link. The flybar paddles play has all but dissappeared. Very nice.

A very simple but worthwhile mod I think.
