been experimenting with panos. I shot many of them in a previous business venture about 7 years ago doing home interiors for realtors. I pulled out my old school copy of PhotoVista by Live Picture and tried it out with 15 shots I took with the Logo.
PhotoVista is really old and I need to research some newer software but it did well considering. I was able to keep the Logo within about a 20' circle while I spun around for the shots.
I can see I need to practice keeping the heli in an EXACT position to minimize distortion but I'm pleased with the first go at it.

Good start. ( not saying mine are any better. :) )
They are much harder than I thought they would be.
I take a look at my results, and then take a look at ones of Tabb's pano, and I think how in the heck did this guy do this?
I want a front mount with a 180 pan. :D :D , and an animatronics card.
Then you don't have to move the heli at all. Well maybe just 1/2 piro if you want 360.
Any idea what rate you think you're spining at while taking the pano shots?

I did the full 360 in about 30 seconds. I just held the shutter down and did a constant rate piro. I ended up shooting about 15 images. Without the AP2000i it would have been very hard to keep the heli in one spot.
you mention 180° pan.... well by years end I plan to have a front mount with 360° pan. Yes you heard that right. no more details for now. just have to use your imagination ;)

That is how I try mine also. Hold the shutter and let her spin.
Great, thanks alot. It's hotter than crap here with this heat wave we are having, now I'm really not gonna be able to sleep tonight using my imagination. (Yeah, yeah, I know you live in AZ, but this ain't no dry heat...)
Heck, I'd be happier than crap with a 360 underslung mount that functions like the airfoil pro1, but is NOT an airfoil pro1.
Thought about just making one myself, but it would be heavier than crap if I made it.

mine will be maybe only 20% heavier than my standard front mount. Still under 2lb. Will get to it sometime in Sept/Oct I hope. I need to catch up on all these Raptor mounts now.

My dad and I are working on something that'll work along those lines. I haven't really looked at how he does it with his since I wouldn't concider buying from him. If it works out well I'll let ya know.

This is definitely NOT an AF1!
I wouldn't take an AF product as a gift.
But I made this myself, and it weighs 5 pounds exactly with Canon RebelXT 350, batteries, downlink, servos, pan, tilt, shutter and zoom, receiver, and Black Box OSD on eyepiece-mounted framing camera.
That's my Joker CX that it is hanging underneath. Oh, by the way, those are two 5s1p eMoli packs in the battery tray of the Joker. Short flights, but much cheaper than LiPos.

Thanks Pete, nice job, I remember seeing yours before. I would like something like that, but not sure I can lift 5 pounds with my heli.

...i was bored. because of the way you stitched your images - a clean and distortion-less cylindrical isn't possible. however - at least the horizon isn't as 'fishy' now.
See a low-res version of the pano here (http://www.unique-perspectives.biz/Hyde/pano_1F1.mov)
i did this in an hour. i gotta go to a movie now but i can probably fix the seam if i have more time...

hey that's not bad! thanks!
fixed.
Repaired Cylindrical Pano Here (http://www.unique-perspectives.biz/Hyde/DJ.mov)
(still gonna have a distorted horizon when viewing the cyl cuz that's the nature of the beast on an equi that's been converted to cyl. also - i am working with a very small file so clarity is gonna blow, but at least you get the idea).
