Thought I would share this pano we did recently in Aspen, Colorado. Just got an email and the place sold for 47 million

Hope you enjoy

hey Tabb,

I showed it to my mrs (who does real estate pano photography) and she wanted to know what hardware you used to get the shot.

thanks,
rich.

Great shot Tabb! Do you get a lot of requests for this type of image? Especially on real estate? Looks like it takes calm thumbs and much practice. To get good results would electronics be used to automatically pan and click or is it all manual?

Thanks...

Thanks...stitching single shots would be a nightmare, it was probably done with a one or two shot parabolic mirror like this one from Kadian:

maybe two shots to edit the bird out.. ??

As far as I know, all Heli RC panos are done while doing a piro.

No magic parabolic mirror lenses.

Just 15-20 shots stitched together.

I think Tabbs are many images stitched.

Thanks everyone for the comments, this was shot with a Canon 5D. This one I believe was around 20 or so shots stitched together.

It was such a cool place to shoot, the owner was a very very nice guy also who was really intrigued by what we were doing

12 megapixels and canon's useof their sensor that captures full frame makes this look amazing -- PS Cs2 is very powerfull tool

Well, it is clear the REST of us still have our work cut out. :) I think the key to Tabb's success with these is altitude control. I suspect something like a GPS-based system with altitude control. However he does it, quite impressive, indeed!

Here's a fun exercise, in true "Where's Waldo" fashion, who can find where Tabb is in this picture? :)

I can't find that darn red and white striped shirt anywhere!

That isn't him over to the right on the grass just inside the fence by the old wagon is it?

I would have expected him to photoshop himself out of the picture for sure.

Maybe that is someone else??

Those mirrorlenses are the fast and easy way for creating a pano, but because the complete 360 is made out of 2 images, from which you loose a lot with stitching, they are a bit low resolution.

I think a lot of people don't know that they can zoom in and out with the Ctrl and Shift button on the pano that Tabb posted. The resolution of these pano's are stunning!

I had not hear that he had one. Are you sure?

Yes, I did notice the CTRL/SHIFT zoom function, but not until I went on to answering an email and I noticed Tabb's pano going crazy in the background! It does it without the window being active.

It does really show the depth of the resolution. Great stuff!

Thanks for all the comments guys, that is me on the hill over by the wagon. I left myself in just to say hello to anyone who views it :) The clients copy I took myself out though.

I should have a few more processed and up for viewing in a week or so.

I know it's QT VR. Are you processing them yourself or having someone else do it? Man I wish there was a windows version of that program. Even zoomed in full, I can't see any seams in the image. Amazing. :noteworthy

Mark, I am processing them myself. It takes a bit of PS work to hide any and all of the flaws in the stitching but I am finally getting the system down now.
