just bought one of these

http://rcreporter.com/products.html

$40. super small. I figure this will be a neat little tool for learning what certain altitudes look like from the ground.

wow.... for $40 everyone should own one of these. I used it on 3 flights yesterday on the Logo. my highest altitude was 396' AGL followed by a 283' and 176' flight.

This thing is incredibly small. extremely easy to use. go get one!!!

I like the zlog also.

It is not just a max altimeter. It is a recording altimeter.

You can download your entire flight and see ascent and descent rates.

It also can be setup to record a trigger everytime you take a picture. Then when you download the data later, you will know exactly at what altitude each picture was taken.

I wrote a palm interface for it a few years back to download the data and alow plotting and graphing in the field.

If you stuck the SD card from your camera into the Palm, and clicked a button it would also rename each .jpg to have the altitude in it.

For example, if your pictures were named IMG_058.jpg, and it was taken at 200 feet, it would rename that .jpg to IMG_058_200.jpg, based on the trigger data that the zlog recorded.

Now anytime you view that photo, the altitude is embeded in the name.

Helps you get an idea what xx feet looks like from the air, and when customers say what altitude was that taken at, you already have the data right there.
