Recently, Aero-Model/Hacker Brushless has been offering a pretty good package deal for a Logo 10 Deluxe, a Hacker A30-8XL motor and an X-70 controller. While not a bad "starter set", like DJ, I think that the recommended 4s configurationis not usable, in my opinion, especially in an AP setup. I'm also not crazy about the X-70 controller, as it doesn't have a very good slow startup. In any case, a big 5s pack (5000 mAh...) would be a better option with this motor, but this setup is still a bit on the anemic side for me. :)
Another option that would give a lot more "punch", in terms of power reserves, and basically the same durations as with a 5s-5000 pack, is a Hacker A30-10XL, a 19T or 20T pinion, and a 6s-3700 FP Evo 20 "NF" pack. You'll get a 100% h/s of around 1850 with the 19T, and about 1950 with the 20T. The combination of the higher voltage of 6s, vs 5s, and the much better voltage holding ability of these 20C/30C cells, makes a very efficient setup, with AP-style durations in the 15 minute range.
Here's the package deal I can offer right now:
Basic Package
- Logo 10 Deluxe kit, with upgraded LLC head and CF battery tray ($219)
- Hacker A30-10XL (with fan) ($90)
- CC Phoenix HV-45 Controller ($135)
- 20T Mikado module 0.5 pinion ($11)
Total retail price for above: $455
"Package" price: $399
This is the same "deal" that A-M/Hacker is offering, but with the much better Phx HV-45 controlller, and it includes the required pinion.
Options
- 45V UBEC ($40)
- 6s-3700 FP Evo 20 "NF" LiPo pack ($249)
Total package price for all of the above: $639
Other Options
AskmanAP underslung stabilized mount: $250
Mikado 500 mm CF "white" blades $65
I highly recommend the underslung Askman mount, as shown below, for several reasons. First, its "wide-track" stance makes it much easier to take off and land, especially in moderate breezes. It also is very forgiving. I had an incident where I inadvertantly hit the Throttle Hold switch, which caused my Logo 10 to drop through a tree, from 80 feet up, and hit the ground hard. The blades, flybar and boom were toast, but the mount, and my camera were fine.

A second reason for this style mount is that it allows you to have a completely normal layout, with the battery in the normal CF battery tray position and have it CG just like normal. Finally, this configuration also alows you to use the canopy. This makes it much easier to keep things oriented, which is harder to do as the size of the model goes down.
I haven't put this on my website yet, but I will soon. For now, just PM or email me (ggoodrum@tppacks.com) if you are interested in this package. I have everything listed above in stock, and ready-to-ship. In addition to the savings already offered, I will also, for a limited time only, offer free Priority Mail shipping to the continental U.S. :)
