This may be inappropriate but I am still very interested, I am looking to start a side business in the AP field and have been checking out pricing of other AP folks, it all seems reasonable but how much business does one actually get and as far as part time, say weekends and some sun down / early evening weekday work what could one expect to make a year if you have a good business sense and a decent customer base?

I realize there is a ton of factors involved with annual gross income, such as operating expense, insurance, legal fee's etc... but if anyone has a ballpark guesstimate that would be great.

When I hear this question I usually answer the same, RCAP is unlike cocaine in the sense that it doesn’t sell itself! P. :smokin:

how good a salesman are you?

there are other benefits like able to write off business expense. (including gears) most operate under LLC (highly recommended)

generally, I know of several people making 500-1000 gross per month. (mostly profit minus time and gas) some even higher, but those have contract with major contruction company and bigger projects. on the opposite spectrum, some people are not good at sales or wants to do so. in those cases, you won't make as much. I've heard of a person who went door to door and booked up 2k worth of work on one day. again, salesmanship.

this hobby is very addictive, so it is nice to have way to help suppliment the hobby.

When we where part time just on weekends, We brought in about $2500 gross, but we had a couple fairly large contracts also.

Ok this all sounds great, thanks for your replies but this spawns another question....

people making 1000-2500 gross what type of business were you dealing with and what type of equipment did you use (Video cam, was it HD, 3ccd or how many megapixel camera were you using)

I can sell, and feel my skills may be on par with the salesman who sells refrigerators to eskimos, I am not to worried about drumming up business as I have a few friends and relatives already in the construction business, and other friends in the realty business.
