It will be motor install, electronics, final setup.

Flying will be this weekend.

All done for now.... I will do a final overview out at the field and test flight.
I managed to bend my tail output shaft by accident so I am waiting for the part to fix it.

I had to add a washer above the pulley to get it to seat tight against the lower bearing.

Bob

Thanks for the wonderful videos. what size washer did you use to get the pulley seated properly? The motor has 3 black wires, how do I know which wire connects to which on the ESC (I'm using the CC25). Sorry for such basic questions.. I building my first heli

It does not matter which 3 wires connect to the ESC.... If the motor runs backwards simply swap any 2 wires and it will run the other way.

I know this may not be the proper thread but i need help BADLY!!!

I posted a comment in the generic section on thanking u for ALL yer help u give everybody....and wondering if u have a TREX 450SE belt tension video

BUT NOW i have a HUGE huge problem that I dont know if even the likes of you have ever ran across...or even if its fixable....if it is NOT fixable im done sunk on this heli thing

I am a total noob...but have read and re-read so much about helis...read and re-read my Tx manual...and tons of stuff for weeks...and have a worn out hornet 2....but I was'nt quite remembering EVERYTHING I needed to do on my Tx when setting up my heli

I plugged all my servos in and my BEC with the motor dissconnected.....and when I pluged in my lipo to adjust the sub-trim and get the arms at 90 degrees....my servos weny spastic and were at full range all differnt ways and were twitching very fast.
I thought my lipo might be weak so I charged it...SAME RESULT!!!!

then I realized that when I made my new model in my Futaba 7CHP..(just like yers in the videos)....that the default setting in PARAMETERS...there is something called...PCM...I know it's some sort of transmission frequency thing. I have a electron 6 hitec Rx and It's FM..(came on my hornet 2) well I realized that maybe that PCM...needed to be switched to PPM.

well I switched it and plugged in my battery to the BEC,...and all was well!!!!
no twitching or nothing....BUT!!!!!

All my servos where I had them manually put very close to 90 degrees...are all in way way off positions!!!!!!.....no sub trim can even touch how far they are off...
They are like 3/4 of there range off from 90 degrees to one side of center (90 degrees)

I cant get them back to center no-how!!!
I read in a forum weeks ago that people ....set up there Rx's..??....and the servos twitch and then center???

Is there ANYTHING i can do to return my servos to 90 where I had them???

all trims are set where they are when u create a new model

PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE HELP me I have nobody to turn to!!!

I'll donate sum funds if you can help me!!!!!

Turn on you transmitter and center the controls so that the servos will go to center (even though the arms are not). Now pop of the control arms and put them back on at 90 now that the servos are centered.

Off topic in this thread. You sound desperate though. Just remove the center screw holding the servo arm to the servo and rotate it to as near to horizontal as possible. If you finally have your radio set up correctly now, this should take care of your problem.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled program. Where is that HDX300 test flight report? :)

I didnt write that correctly..I mean to say many thanks to the both of ya!!
and you have no idea how grateful I am for your guys quick reply and knowledge...I thought I had meesed up the servos somehow!!

Will report back shortly and let'cha guys know how it went!!

Thanks again!

IT WORKED!!!!
Thanks you guys a TON!!!

now I gotta redo all the linkage arms because I was programing it for "normal" mode...(low throttle stick 0 power 0 pitch)
and I get way to much upward travel on my full throttle and the washout block hits the bottom of ....ummm...the peice above the washout block...LOL!
I thought endpoint would fix that but when I adjust the endpoint my servos move like its a trim adjustment??.....Oh well guess i'll muddle through it and figure it out
I was thinking about setting it up for 3D so I learn to hover starting from middle stick....or do I set normal mode...then 3D like on idle 1??

oh sorry ..wrong place to ask

THANKS AGAIN you guys for helping me.....I mean thanks aLOT!

guys.. i'm building my first heli (HDX300).

How should the 2 main pulley idlers be assembled. I noticed that the bearing can only be pushed into the guide pulley from one end. do I push it in till its flush or all the way in? its rather a tight fit.. if it needs to go in all the way, what tool did you use ?

thanks

I had the same question. Ended up pushing the bearings all the way in; bottomed out. I still had to shorten the threaded stand-offs by 1mm in order for the guide pulleys to line up correctly with the drive gear.

Looks like I may take to the air before hearing Finless' flight report. Oh well, sometimes you just gotta blaze your own trail...

How did you manage to do that? I had to use a pair of pilers to force the bearing in and its just flush.. :arggg:

I machined an exact fit metal plug and used it to carefully push the bearing in with a table vise. These bearings are so small that if you put any differential load on the inner ring, you're going to damage the races and cause grittiness.

BTW: It's amazing how often I hear guys blaming grittiness on contamination on these tiny bearings. Ain't the case. It's caused by race damage due to beyond spec loads; think of it as little dents in the polished races.

Hey Bob,

How did it fly? :?:

No actually... I did get this gyro to work and work well!!!!! I am serious and I could not beleive how well it actually worked on my crappy test hover with wires hanging everywhere (and some glitches)!
NO... it aint a 401 but for this little crappy heli it worked DAMN well!

Ya know if you get this POS gyro set up... It aint too bad really! I did some power climbs and SLOW ASS flips and the gyro held dang it...... Suprised me actually...

Bob

Bob,
I have one of the Telebee Gyros for my #2 T-Rex (the SE has a 401) w/ no instructions. Just like to check on something, in the Video you state you can set travel with ATV on the radio. (TREXTUNING states not to do that - its for piro rate). Just double checking while I try to set this thing up...can I set ATV for the travel?

By the way....the method you show for eliminating drift is GREAT. I am sure without that I'd have to buy another 401.

Thanks, Bill

Well what you see in the vid is how I got it working....... BUT you do need to get it mechnically as close as possible.

OK cool...just wanted to make sure. I have the link at 8mm on the servo horn and I get a slight buzz at the very end of range (with the slider centered of course). It's hard to get that slight amount out without changing the ATV 'cause you can't really move the link in 0.5mm. I just couldn't figure out how the Gyro would actually know there are limits when it's driving the servo (unlike the 401 which has the limit pot).

Thanks Bob...all your videos are a tremendous contribution to the Heli society. I can't say enough to thank you!!!!!!!
