What are those magnets going to do to my SD card or anything else in my camera?
Those things are crazy powerful!!

I have a couple of shoots coming up this week, so I'm not touching anything on my setup.

I think you will still need some light foam between the magnets to damp the camera while it floats between the magnets. Just think of the magnets as non contact springs.

agreed. there still will need to be some contact point.. also too to keep it from banging against the stops while turning, climbing, etc.

I've heard this is similar to the way full size heli-cams are designed. The camera gimbal "floats" in a magnetic field when it's powered up. This effectively isolates the camera platform from the mount.
I've thought about it but was afraid of de-magnetizing the tape in my video camera and loosing footage.

I can't imagine it would act any differently than being directly connected? The natural tendency isn't really a "floating" per se, more like a forceable battle between one side and the other.. Am I off on my thinking? Last time I played with something like that, I recall it was like a perfect bearing when rotating, but reacted like it was directly connected... hmm.. would be interesting to hear your results though, DJ.
