I use a 6EXH and the Titan, mechanical pitch not ccpm.

Cyclic Collective Pitch Mixing

It uses 3 servos on the swash plate to move in unison for collective and opposing for aileron or elevator, the transmitter needs the mixing to figure out what command to send to each of the 3 servos for a given stick command.

There's other forms but thats the most common. It can be a bit faster on collective and cyclic and the servos share the load, and there are usually less linkages, are the pluses

The servos have to be matched and in good shape or you get interaction, its more complicated to set up, direct connection to the head means you often strip gears in flight and you can get interaction between collective and cylic if its a poor design or poorly setup and the misses.

oo ok, and i definately do not need CCPM for a Titan???

Nope, the titan has a dedicated servo for each of collective pitch, aileron and elevator so its mechanical mixing.

I flew a Futaba Super 7 from 1991 or so till 2003 when I sprung for a 9C, my old radio is still going strong.

I m using a JR 9XII but i think an Optic 6 would be a good choice if u dont intend to get anything more than 6 channels.

He's going to be flying a 50 nitro with a 401 that already wipes out 6 channels, if he goes with a 6 channel radio and wants a governor then hes out of luck, I wouldn't buy anything less than a 7 for a nitro heli and you get more features and better programming with a 9

yeaah true, but this is my first heli so, i dont want to go over the top, with mad expensive equipment, that i doubt il even be able to use, in the early stages of heli flying

So an optic 6 would be a good start...

I'm curious why you would reccomend an Optic 6, if he wants to add just a governor in 6 months he would have to buy a new transmitter.

Why not just fly with the super 7 he has. The Titan does not need anything more than what he has.

I have to agree with hockey. I would just spring for a futaba 7c because you will end up getting a governer sooner or later. Trust me! If you can afford it, go for the 9c but nothing lower than the 7c. Just my .02

I have an optic 6, the sliders on the side adjust pitch/throttle in hover and can be REALLY annoying because you can't disable them..... but they only affect normal mode, Idleup they are disabled.

So if you fly in normal at all you need to tape the sliders so they can't move.....

Other than that it's a great basic radio.... Im saving for a 9c now.

If he s not intending to get a Governer... then an Optic 6 would be good enough. Hey i ve nothing against Futaba..my first Tx was the Futaba T-6XAS the elder brother of todays 6EXH. The 6XAS was a total washout compared to the Optic 6. So if he wants it to be cheap, and good and it no hurry for a governer then an Optic 6 is good enough.
But if he has the $$ to splash then he s better off with the JR 9XII.
