my 9C is kinda showing age, with a little PUSH , i might consider upgrading instead of getting the same model.
so if i wana go to 12Z or 14MZ not sure yet, want your opinions on the real benifits of those two monsters over the 9C.
Thanks,

The programming on the 12 is rather comprehensive, its built in synthesized and the ccpm processing is lightning fast.
Its a very nice radio. For my budget I wouldn't even think about it, I've never run into something the 9c wouldn't do but if I had spare cash laying around......
Maybe in January when the bonus checks come out.

the 9c was very nice to me for a loong time, got me loving futaba radios, now i was doing some calcs and probably able to snatch a 14mz.. so i know the topic is different, how would you compare 14mz to 12z ??

The 12 Z programs very similar to the how the 9C programs. You would have probably been more comfortable with the 12 Z as an upgrade from a 9C.
Just my opinion.

you are right david, i did look around comparing those two radios, I am sure i would'v been comfortable with the 12z going from a 9c.
I still thought I can always learn a new radio if its worth it, seeing the features 14mz made me choose it. to me its like buying a laptop, always aim for more than whats needed because I knew i'll need a few more processing power when I started learning graphics and video editing. and it'll have a value if needed to be sold later.

Oddly enough I prefer the 12z over the 14 due to it's "feel". You should pick up both and wiggle the sticks for awhile. The 14 feels large, bulky and unbalanced in my hands. The 12 is smaller, lighter and hangs perfect on the neck strap. I find I have to reach on the 14 more to get the sticks inthe corners too. A small thing but something I noticed.

Blair, I would if I could, sadly no shop here (total of 2) in kuwait have them in stock, only JR radios around as there is an agent here. however, I did once play with a 14mz from a friend, it was okay, as you said a little bulky, I think that as soon as I actually fly i'll get used to it. i would'v loved to try the 12z but can't find anyone or anywhere to try it out. :dontknow

Several of the Futaba Team Pilots here in the USA have switched to the 12Z. They had 14MZ's. When the 12Z became available and they tired it. They decided they wanted to use the 12Z instead of the 14MZ. The programming in the 12Z is the same as the 14 MZ. The 14MZ has a touch screen and uses Windows CE as an OS. This allows the use of wav files and bmap pics. Once you get beyond that both radios have the same capabilites.

While it's true that both radios offer pretty much the same programming features, there's work being performed by several folks (incl. myself, finless, Angelos, and others) now to enhance the 14MZ capabilities. So from a purely "programming" perspective, either radio works great, comfort-wise some prefer the 12Z other the 14MZ; if that's all you want in a radio, then cost will probably be the only deciding factor. If you're into tweaking or simply will want to take advantage of new capabilities or the ability to do more with your radio, look at getting the 14MZ. :smokin:

i have a question about the updates:
do I need to install all the older updates before the latest? or the latest update only?

Just install the lastest one. The latest one will take care of the rest that were previous to it.

as usual , i get to WAIT and WAIT for the radio to be delivered to me.. this time its been good, I printed the manual and been reading it like 4 times now.. I am just so surprised of the features and customizability, other than the color touch screen windows OS, it seems that futaba really listened to pilots very well to make this radio work, and with the updates, they continue on enhancing their radios based on pilots.
I know that every manufacturer SHOULD do the same, however, not every one does, this is something that makes consumers feel better, knowing that a product is constantly being enhanced and updated to solve issues. instead of producing another model to replace an older one (like going from 9CHP to 9CHPSuper OR the two JR 9X radios).
while im sure i'll feel right at home with the coming 14mz, a silent giant is worrying me! (JR), i constantly think that they are up to something that'll shock the RC industry like Futaba did with this radio.
just my thought.

I have been trying to contact you for months so that you could play with the 14mz befor you bought it...They are to big and bulky for my liking....color screen to me dont mean much..Im on the second one and having trouble with it too as it will not send signal to the g3 rec to change freq...so back this one will go too..But you really should have stayed in touch,,,,

well, i still didn't receive me 14mz, turns out it was held in customes pending inspection ! do you believe that? after all the helis and gadgets and Li batteries (and the 9C ofcourse) i bought, they get suspecious with the 14mz! and will most likely take 5% of the price as customs ! thats another $100 ! :arggg: :arggg:
sorry i know this is irrelevant to the post but had to vent abit ! :bomb:
