Ok, here is my question/dilemma...I am using the 510's on my cyclic on my 500. I have never used "expo" but after it being suggested to me I figured I would give it a try. So I added -15% to aileron, elev and rudder. I had flown 5 packs and was just about to lift off when the main blades pitch forward and I quickly hit TH. I find that all 3 cyclic servo's are stripped out, the aileron being completely stripped with the elev only a small amount. My 500 flew awesome with about 80 flights, no crashes until this incident. What I want to find out is did I put a wrong value in for the expo, - instead of +, or are the 510's just a piece of crap that will fail for no reason and I need to get new servo's. Can the - value be a cause of these servo's stripping out like that or not?
Many Thanks to all who reply.......:D

To "dumb" down the sticks on JR/Spectrum you have to add +ve expo. I believe it's the opposite for Futaba.
By adding -ve expo you will have increased the sensitivity around midstick... wouldn't have thought that would lead to stripped servos?

I use the DX7 and would not think adding the wrong value would cause servo's to strip, but I want to find out as they were fine until I added expo. Like I said, if it can cause it then I will rebuild the servo's, if it can't then I will get new servo's. I don't fly any 3D and only do the basic things, figures eights, some stall turns and FF....

I'd be clutching at straws if I tried to give you a definative answer.
Have you checked for binding in the head?
Don't know if it's a likely scenario, but maybe with the -ve expo added, the 510's geartrain couldn't cope with the added speed being asked of them with a loaded disk?:thinking

Hi mate,
Just to say I've used 510's on my 500 and they were great. Even had a HUGE crash and they were fine after that. They are tough as old boots. I would think it sounds like they just got too much load with the 15% extra on there. Next time add +15% to dumb it down at midstick. Best of luck.
