Good afternoon all. I just switched my stock motor & ESC out with the Castle Ice 75a ESC & it's paired with a Scorpion 1600kv. I've manually set the ESC up via the "sticks" & when I go into Idle up the tail wags (left to right). I believe it's the LCV kicking in.
I've tried 3 batteries & they all do the same thing. The batteries are all Hyperion G3 35C 2600mAh pack. All just charged last night. The ESC is set to "3v/cell cutoff voltage" which is the only option availabe for a Lipo. Current Limiting is set "Insensitive." Which is what's recommended for Heli's. The Throttle is set to "Fixed Throttle." The Electronis Timing was set to "Standard" & I've tried it in "High" as well. The LCV is set to "Soft Cut." Finally the PWM is set to "Outrunner Mode."
Anyone else running into this problem? As alway your advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would really recommend getting the Castle Link a coupon to get it for free is included in the box. I seem to recall that the LCV is set to 3V which should be fine. Could you perhaps be running in governor mode with high governor gain?

That's what I was thinking. Sounds like a governor issue...?
With all the setup parameters available with these new CC controllers, I think the USB connection is a must! Some people bitch about having to buy one, but it's well worth the money and lasts forever. I bought mine back in 2004 when I was flying airplanes.....CC has been cool enough NOT to change it. It still works with all my new heli stuff
The Data Logger you get with these new ICE controllers is just plain awesome too. Don't let it go wasted. Buy the USB cable.

Thanks Kyalamikid & Huskynox. I've taking advantage of the "Free Castle Link Adapter" coupon. Just waiting for the Mailman. In the mean time, I've reprogrammed the ESC manually & set the "Current Limiting" to the scary "Disabled - USE AT YOUR OWN RISK" setting. The tail wag is gone but I'm not comfortable about the warning of impending doom I might have inflicted upon myself. Either of you run the "Current Limiting" at the risky "Disabled" setting?
BTW Kyalamikid, what's the run time on your 500 with the Scorpion 1400kv & what's the mAh on the packs you're using? Thanks again.

Hello Kyalamikid, is there anyway I can check the Govenor Gain without the Castle Link? I doubled check & my "Throttle Type" is set to setting #2 "Fixed Throttle." Therefore I don't beleive I'm in Govenor Mode at all but what the hell do I know. That's why I'm here LOL.

Cant help you there I am afraid, Castle Link is all I know. I would use "insensitive". My settings can be found here:

And graphs here 3000mah 20C Turnigy packs...5-6 minutes:

You would use 6 pole and low timing for the 1600kv AFAIK...

I tach'ed my HS today & I got 2,849rpms in Idle Up #2 (100% flat curve). Am I wrong or is this a little too high of an rpm to be running?

Depends what you want and how you fly...? You'll probably see 2600-2700 under load.
Anything under 3000 should be safe though. I personally like 2800-2900 in a 500 size heli, so I would call it good.

I run the same set-up as you with the 15 tooth pinion and run head speed at 2825. I had to lower the gyro gain in my radio to stop the tail from wagging...did you try this?

Well I just charged my batteries & I put back 2485mAh back into my Hyperion 3G 35C 2600mAh pack! That's well over the 80% rule. I'm going to back my flights up to 4 minutes instead of 4:30. I also changed my Throttle Advance from High to Low. I'll see if this gets me back down to the 80% rule. What batteries are you guys running, flight time & what miliamps are you guys putting back into your packs?

Hello Stephane, I tried lowering the gain but that didn't stop the wag. I raised my gan back up & changed the "Current Limiting" to "Disable" & that got rid off the wag. Thanks for the suggestion.
