I have some 92mm CF tail blades I want to use on the 550. They leave me about 1 or 2mm clearance from the ground (with the vert. fin touching). I have a few ideas for simple, light, and strong extentions of the vert. fin. I'm pretty sure someone is using bigger blades on their tail....so I'm looking for other ideas on getting a little more clearance from the ground when the fin touches.
Thanks ahead, Bill

i use the trex600 tail fin....it's longer...and also comes with a bigger horiz fin.
Just have ot redrill 1 hole on the vert fin,,,,,and file down some plastic on the horiz to make it stay tight on the boom.....works great and it cheap about $10 for the whole set up....
you also amke one from the walmart cutting board everyone is using...

maybe ben could make a discount hh frame from some of those
you could advertise it as "flexible like a russian gymnastic"
or
"replacement parts available in every american city!"

Hey,
I am also running longer tail blades. The easy way: I just put a black painted depron block between rear skids and chassi, so the Hurricane lifts it's back up :) This block is about 10mm in height, so I now have about 7 cm between tail blade tip & mother earth! Looks some kind of aggressive, too :lolol

looks good... but do yourself a favor... either use nylon bolts or zip-ties to hold the landing gear to the CF frame. they will break away in a crash and save the tabs on the CF frame.

I also have 92 blades
I put a small 20mm screw in the tail fin to avoid a situation where bad maneuver the blades touch the ground
