Guys

Been awhile since I have flown a MA heli, this is one that I aquired that needed a major re-build.

Head speed about 1600 in hover, during rapid ascent it rocks from side to side. Thinking it may be the dampeners (they were installed dry as per instructions) I have a set of the one piece dampeners yet to be fitted, any thoughts as to what may be the cause?

reckon you are right .. the dampners ... a firm head needs a higher head speed to stabilize itself ,, it varies with the head and setup too , I have 1 piece dampners in my tempest headed stratus , at 1700 its ok , ; same dampners in my extreme head Spectra G is good at 1600 ....

ya your dampners are most likely as you and peter R said rooted... also just check the 2 bolts on the lower of the head block.. (they clamp the head to the mainshaft) and if they are not done up tight the head can rock slightly on the shaft.. just check those bolts first..
