Hi,
I have never used GV1. What I knew is GV 1 helps to maintain set RPM. I am wondering why we need to maintain set RPM? We need it in hover mode? Or Idle up?
Does FAI F3C and 3D pilots all use governer for their heli? Or it's just an option for them? If so, who else use it?
Thanks,

We don't need a gv1, a revlock is better, lighter and half the price.
What it does is holds the head at a steady rpm in all flight modes, its nice for 3D because if you give 0 pitch it keeps the head from over speeding. It also adds throttle when the head is under load

I can tell you this FWIW, I had my Raptor set up pretty well with throttle curves and cyclic to throttle mixing and was pretty darn happy with it and if someone asked I would say that a governor is nice but not a necessity. I had flown other peoples machines with one but not really throwing them around.
I bought a used EVO 50 that came with a governor. After the first full day of flying my machine with a governor I was on my cell phone calling Ricks on the way home from the flying field ordering governors for my other helis.
They still arent a necessity but they sure are nice, set a throttle curve from idle to 100, program the governor, set idle up to 100, 75, 50, 75, 100 and then set pitch in a straight line from -10 to +10 and go flying and let the revlock take care of the rest.
