Hanson used to sell it. Not sure if he still does. I got mine from a local guy who drove snowmobiles for fun and a business and stocked it.

This is not heli-related, but a Blue Marble question:

A lot of the airplane engine manufacturers, like BME, DA, and 3W say to only use a synthetic oil. Would Blue Marble work on those engines as well? I fly airplanes and plan to build my first gasser over the winter. I would like to use a BCMA 26cc EI engine, but don't want to carry two fuel jugs around with different oils.

Thoughts?

I'm using Blue Marbel in my airplane motors for the past couple of years. Works just fine. I use it in a BME 102, a BME 44, a Precision Eagle Sachs 4.2, and a Zenoah G23. Mix at 3.5oz per gallon for airplanes as they are not as demanding on lubrication as heli engines are.

Thanks! That's just the kind of information that I was looking for.

Go to their website and they'll give you the location of distributors in your area.
Did a search and came up with http://www.bluemarbleoil.com/Dealers/USA/fl.htm

Hope this helps.

I think it is a Ford vs. Chevy. I know lots of folks the run Amsoil and lot of folks that run Blue Marble. Both swear by them.

I personally run Amsoil in all my cars, trucks, generators and my helicopter.

I think the big difference between Blue Marble and Amsoil is that Blue Marble (the company) specializes in making a product only for high-performance, two-stroke engines. Amsoil makes a little of everything.

As for using Amsoil in a car, I have to admit that I'm a Mobil-1 guy. :) Folks on http://TundraSolutions.com/ did a lot of testing with the various oil brands and settled on Mobil-1 as the best for the vehicle. I never read all of the history, but someone asks about once a month and the answer has not changed.

Given all of that, I would love to see some scientific testing that compares Blue Marble to Amsoil Sabre. I'm sure that both companies have done this themselves, but they'll never release the results without slanting them.

Any tests I have seen with Mobile 1 vs Amsoil. Each does so well... the differences are minuscule so they make a chart with little range.

I of course could show you a million sites where Amsoil out performs Mobile 1 in every aspect. Amsoil has been doing only synthetic lubrication for a LONG time.... as a matter a fact, I have an 11 year old 5.5 HP Lawnboy 2-stoke that still starts first or second pull. It loves the Amsoil saber.

Ask Rodney Shattra about his Blue Marble vs. Amsoil experiences.... I think it was him. :thinking

I told Chris Bergen when/if I pop my motor I would try BM and that was 4-5 gallons ago.

Just to stir the pot a little... Has anyone ever tried Royal Purple synthetic oil?

I know racers (1/4 mile) seem to like it. Never heard of anyone sticking it in a helicopter.

The Guy at Hanson says Klots R50 is the stuff to use. :dontknow
He sais the difference is the carbon buildup in the engine. Might be worth trying. I bought a bottle but havent had a chance to give it a try.

I'm now using the klotz R-50 and it seems to be going well.

I've started at 32:1 which is Klotz's recemmendation in RC engines. Last weekend out the ambient temps were close to 100F and it handled the heat pretty well.

After half dozen tanks the plug is clean with a nice brown color and there is no carbon on the piston. I did notice a thin film of carbon in the exhaust port but it wipes clean with a rag.

I ordered 2 pints from them, fast service, pretty good shipping costs.

I'm using Klotz r50, myself. It has always performed well despite the variety of 2 cycle engines I've put it into. That ranges from 250 cc dirtbike through chainsaws and string trimmers. Now it runs in my Intrepid G26

Mark, what ratio are you running the R50 at?

hacksaw43:

HeliProz carries Blue Marble and that is what I run in my G26.

For airplanes (Dessert Aircraft), I follow their recommendations and break-in with Lawnboy ashless 32:1 and then run Amsoil 100:1 forever and ever and ever afterward. I also run Amsoil in my Honda Civic and Ford F-250 diesel. It is a great synthetic and like dog said, been around for a long time.

BTW, my husband is also a dealer for Amsoil b/c we like it so much!
