i took my Fury out and got the tail to lock pretty solid (601)without any wagging, next time i went out it was wagging a bit, i had not really changed that much except engine tuning.
I lowered the gain and the wag just got slower and to a point where it was not locking very good but still pulsing from side to side slowly.
I took it home and inspected the tail very closely, I held the tail and checked for play and found about 1mm play in the slider, pushed the circular clip on that shaft harder and the play did seem to get better, would that have been the source of my slow tail wag.
If you guys have any ideas - that would be a great help - cheers
should also mention my settings
the gain on the 601 was from 37% down as low 30% i have a 19.5 servo wheel with the atv set to 110 both sides, i have the gyro set in FC3 mode, i have the HH set to switch F on a FF8super down is non HH and up is HH.?

You might try checking the thrust bearings in the tail grips. Make sure you have them facing the correct direction. The larger ID thrust race goes inboard towards the tail hub. The smaller ID thrust race will be on the outside under the nut..

Just a thought - when i first set the heli up i managed to get a stable tail under HH, something has changed - if it was the bearing the wrong way round surley i would not have got he tail locked nicley the first time - i will check tho

Yes I agree if the tail was holding nicely. Then most likely the thrust bearings are installed correctly. They could be worn thou and causing the wag.
Also they can be installed wrong and will not show a problem till the head speed goes higher. I have seen them installed wrong and the tail would be fine in a hover, then when idle up was engaged the head speed would go to above 1750 the tail would wag. Changed the races around and installed them correctly and problem went away.
I would also look for any binding in the tail rotor system.

i checked for binding today and the tail was a bit stiff, i loosened some bolts and a little oil and the tail is locked like it should be,
That is what his problem was.

Oops sorry, i was in a bit of a hurry, yes after careful direction from David, i went thru everything but before i got to checking for binding, some at my field checked it out (the only other fury owner that regulary flies at our club) and noticed that i had tightened the tail too tight, not drastic, but enough to bind the tail somewhat and as soon as we loosened them and lightly oiled the tail shaft , it was sweeeet.
First flight after that the tail was locked solid - mmmmmmm
I was going to go out and drop the fury on its tail from a great height - but a storm brewed (its supposed to be summer here) so i clean the heli instead and reset the paddles,
The power from the YS91 is unreal, the Fury flies like a dream, yes with the interaction, which i have only done a quick setup on just to get some air time and i get a sweet hands off hover and the canopy everyone thinks i had painted, by Fx was done by me and some aerosol cans:D
Thanks everyone,
A special thanks to DavidH, who always knows what he is talking about, and has no issues sharing that info - thanks man
