View Full Version : OS 91 SZ-H with "old" bottom plate
Hey guys,
a friend of mine is installing an OS 91 SZ-H Hyper with "old" style OS bottom plate - could you remind us what exactly needs to be done and weather he should use the small round spacer plate under the backplate or not ?
Please dont send us to buy the new plate, since this is what he decided on doing for now, no where to find the new plate locally.
thanks.

The old style OS Cspec plate will not work with the SZ. All that is used with the SZ is the plate that is designed for the SZ. There is no other spacer ring used with the SZ.
The SZ plate has been machined out for the SZ.

I3DM,
I think pepople used to do it using the plate and the ring and then they shimmed up the frames to get the corect clearance on the clutch driver. You will also have to do some work on the holes in the plate to take the bolts that bolt the engine to the backplate as I think they are too small (or is it too large) I cant remember :smokin:
Why dont you quickly remove the top half of your stratus and measure the distance from the base plate to the top of the fan then work out what you need to do to get the same with the plates you have.

Get the new SZ plate to run on the Stratus and have the right parts. Much Much easier. No spacer with the new plate. The Pump mounts on the "outside" of the plate.
Eric,
I know its much easier, but since i couldnt get it locally and i need to start breaking in the engine, i figured i would get it to run without it.
Anyway, i installed the engine on the old plate (holes spaced down to 3mm) without the spacer plate, and with 2 original OS washers under the fan, and so far it seems like the clutch driver gap is right where i want it, we'll see how it goes when i fire her up.
