View Full Version : Can't get my Blade CX off the ground!

Well, to start off, this is my first heli, and I don't know much about the hobby. Ijust bought one today from my local hobby store, and when I got home, I followed every instruction, fully charged the li-po, and made sure everything was balanced and right. I slowly incresed the throttle, hoping for a little lift up into the air, but I was sadly disappointed when all the heli did was spin in a circle on the ground, not even an inch off the ground. The more I incresed the throttle, the faster it spun. I made sure all the adjusters on the controller we're neutral, and the same thing has happened again every time I've run it. Is this an easily fixable problem, or will I have to take it back into the shop for repair or just replacement?
Thanks

I would take it back. It is supposed to work correctly out of the box and most of them do. However, I've seen several that were defective. The guys at the hobby store will be able to tell if it's defective or not.

Sounds to me like the proportional is out of trim or the gyro was unable to calibrate upon startup or the gyro is defective.
As a basic rule:
DO NOT move the Heli AT ALL during startup of the 3-in-1 unit.
While it's blinking red and red, it performs self-test, readout of the Trimmer and calibrations. If you move the Heli during that time, the Gyro is calibrated wrong, the result imaginable...
I'm not saying this is the case here, but I've seen it happening.
I expirienced, that a minimum movement of the table on which the heli stands still is enough to get calibration going wrong...
As troubleshooting, check if you can get the tail stable with the Proportional as outlined in the manual. Do not attempt to hover until stable, the installed training-gear on smooth asphalt is already enough for it to do a course adjustment.
If you can't get the tail any better with the maximum deflection on the Proportional, either the Trimmer appears damaged (and they are somewhat fragile) or the Gyro, in either way, have it replaced.
I had to tune the Proportional as well when I took it out of the box...
Cheers,

Just another note about the proportional trim, I had to REALLY adjust mine out of the box, but once trimmed, I can spin her up just shy of taking off and the tail sticks in place. Look @ the trim, it'll save you from a trip to the shop....
The factory, if they do fly it before boxing it up....are really poor at what they do !!
