no one ever made one.. I use the ION-X model and it flies REAL close to the same as the hurri 550

That's ashame! Anyone out there wanna try build one! Plenty of Trex models out there! Think its time for a GAUI 550! Wish I could but don't have enough brain cells :smokin:

there was an attempt to make one before... it was based off of the mx-400 or something stupid like that.. to small.. didn't fly like a hurri at all...

I used the ION-X model as well. But then I edited the model some here and there, and did some work on the radio servos for cyclic. And got me a model that I think flies very close to the real thing. I use RF 3.5 btw.

I too have Real Flight 3.5
How are you guys setting up the ION-X so it flies like the Gaui 550? I am not even close to getting it right...what channels and expo do I need to set it up at, etc.??
thanks,
Ken

Well, first off leave the radio channels alone, RF is weird the way they use channels to to simulate the real world ones. But that being said, do get into the radio software and speed up the servos to the same speed you have in your real world model.. I then shortened the boom to 24" to use the 546mm blades that are in the menu software.
Remember to make all these changes one or two at a time and save then try to fly the model. And before you begin to alter your original model make a copy of it so you don't destroy your original model.
It pretty much goes like that, nothing fancy. Or to extreme just simple changes, I'm sure others would have other suggestions. Thats what I did at first. I don't fly that model much now. I just use the original ION X, and changed the speed of the servos and added more pitch and cyclic to it....

I'm creating a Gaui Hurricane 550 carbon frames edition for G5.5 and G4.5. Here is my latest version of the model in the knifeedge forums. This is a pre-release version and isn't complete as a final model.
Let me know how you like it. I'm not using the knifeedge forums to critique the flight performance or anything, so please don't post that stuff there. My build threads are useful for me to resolve issues I run into while building the models and I don't want to detract from that.

It looks great.. But I'm not going out to buy 4.5 or 5.5 to fly it. I will continue to use my 3.5 software till it dies. Only because it's all I have and I don't feel like buying anything new right now.
Please don't think I'm trying to detract from your progress here. I hope it flies well enough to get more people to make the GAUI line more attractive to more hobbyists.

Thanks. I bought G4.5 last year the week before G5 was announced, so that is why I have the later versions. I didn't have the cash I needed during the time when G3/3.5 was out so that is the only reason I don't have those versions.
I agree that the Gaui should be more attractive to hobbyists. I always thought it was a high quality machine and more deserving than the lack of availability here in the US. It really sucks, but hey, at least I can build as many spare parts as I need with my red button on the interlink.

Yes that is the best part, I can be a pro without spending the dough.....
