View Full Version : Best Blades on an Intrepid EB Gasser

I just bought an Intrepid EB Gasser from the Bergens and I was wondering what blade size to run. I am a novice flyer, can do 4 point hover, nose in, FF, FFF, 8's but no acro yet. I'd like to be able to have a steady machine with a little zip that will take me to stall turns, loops, rolls, and circuits. Also what size tail blades should I use to match the mains.
Thanks,
Lou

I had good luck with NHP 800's with NHP 110 tails. The mains are available from Bergen directly in either black or white... don't know about the tails.

Lou...for the price the NHP's are a good choice...although they are pretty flexible and don't auto nearly as well as the V-blades.
The 810mm V-blades are by far the best blades you can put on the EB...I have done a couple of emergency autos with the turbine that weighs about 4lbs more than the EB and would have been really freaking out if I had the NHP's instead of the V-blades...
I have auto'ed Tapeworms EB a couple of times with the NHP's and did not like the performance at all...After Tapeworm auto'ed his EB with the NHP's he went and bought v-blades for it...you might want to PM him and get the difference straight from Tapeworm...
All in all it is personal preference and how much you are willing to pay for the blades...the NHP's are about 1/2 the price of the V-blades...but...this is one of those times you get what you pay for...

Lou -
I auto my turbine almost everyflight and the V Blade 810's are the best on this ship as well as the EB Intrepid with 110 tails

I also run V-blades on my EB. They are the only brand I have tried, so I don't have a comparison, but I was extremely happy with them from the get-go!
If anyone is interested I have a New set of 810's that I'm going to sell.
They were mounted on a EB just to check the fit but never flown , they're in the original package.
I also have the 110 tail blades set .
PM if interested.
Get a new set and save$$.

Hey Ron...have some fun one day and shut the turbine down and auto in dead stick! There is a huge difference in the auto performance! This is where you get to see just how well the V-s auto! The big V's handle it fine but you don't have nearly the hang time at the end that you do when you just throw the throttle hold switch and keep the turbine running...:D

I know exactly what you mean. I did that NOT on purpose, for some reason the trim was lower than mid and turbine spooled down on the way in ... pucker but good training.

They ya go Ron! Always good to know the flight envelope of heavier birds! I had one at IRCHA on the back side of a fast backward (sort of) hurricane at about 20 feet...plenty of time to spin the tail around and set her down...but touched the tail blades and took 2 teeth off the crown gear...upon checking the ECU it said the flame out was caused by "RX PWR FAIL"...very strange...didn't seem like I had a glitch or anything...just a puff of blue smoke clued me in that it flamed out...

Now THAT would be a pucker for sure :glasses:
