Hello all...

As I had stated in a previous post, I've recently purchased a Venture 50..I've a couple random questions..

I've a Futaba 7CHP radio system installed...so the servo arms that came with the V50 won't fit the splines on the Futaba servos. Question is: Would it be fine to use the Futaba servo arms that came with the radio, or is there a better set to use? I've noticed the white arms that came in the kit are more heavy-duty than the ones in the radio kit, and the white ones holes are further out.

Regarding the linkage to the swashplate - I found that in order to get the swash level, I had to seriously change some of the linkage lengths. I started to wonder if perhaps it had anything to do with the different servo arms, although it stands to reason since the arms are in the proper positions, that the length at mid-stick would still be the same. Any thoughts on this?

And, last but not least - the header tank. I think maybe they switched vendors for them. The tank I have has a mount that doesn't line up with any holes on the frame... I'm reluctant to drill any holes to mount it, so I mounted it with servo tape. Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks for any and all help or suggestions!

The servo arms that came with the V50 are for JR servos they use a different spline than Futaba. You can use the arms that came with the radio if they have a hole that is about 20 mm from the center. I would not try any 3D with the thin Futaba arms. Some people use the Futaba lagre disks and drill a hole a 20 mm or they use Dubro's heavy duty arms.

If you use servo arms that are not 20 mm from the center to the ball the rod lengths may be different, because the rods are running at different angles from the servos to the swashplate. Which rods did you lengthen and how much?

I would not use servo tape to mount the header tank. The fuel and oil will soften the adhesive in a short time. I don't know if they switched vendors on the tank or not. Mine is mounted with the hole in the strap on the bottom of the tank, and I used the hole that is in front of the tail boom brace mount.

Yeah, I'm familiar that they don't fit the Futaba servos. :( I was kind of annoyed...I guess it was too much to ask that they all fit each other. In any event, I guess I'll have to see if one of my LHS happens to carry the Dubro arms (I'm not planning for any 3D in the near future..lol). I tightened (shortened) the front servo pushrod to the seesaw for the front of the swashplate. The others all had very minor tweaking to get the swash level on their respective axis.

As far as the header tank, I was worried about the servo tape as well. I'll investigate mounting it like yours, with the hole in the tank strap towards the bottom. I think I remember the hole being kind of large for the screw supplied in the header tank kit.

The instructions for the kit were the most part pretty good, and the actual assembly is fairly straight-forward.

Thanks for the reply...if you or anyone else has any more input, advise or suggestions (not limited to my original post of course...all are welcome), please feel free to share it with me :)

I fly JR equipment in my helicopters so the arms worked for me. It is a JR heli so they are going to make it easier to fit JR equipment and JR does not make any arms that would fit Futaba.

I have had my Venture 50 since they came out so I don't remember if I had to adjust any rod lengths or not using JR servos.

Hi everyone, I also have a question for experienced JR Venture 50 flyers...past and present.
I located a JR 50 Venture, Hyper 50, digital servos all around, carbon blades, and 401 gyro for sale from a very reputable flyer.
Asking price is $469 with everything except tx and rx.
Is this is a good deal? Heli is in immaculate condition.
Also someone else with the 8103 tx and rx, but really old servos (may have come over with the Mayflower) for $275. The owner kept the good servos, and I understand that.

Help...advice...is the venture 50 a good ship? flying? repairability? parts availability? stability?
TX...good deal...same questions (keeping in mind the old servos).

Thanks!

Sounds like a good deal.
New prices without shipping are:
Venture $270, Hyper $200, blades at least $50, GY401 w/digital servo $190
There's no way to know the true condition of a used bird over the internet but I'd think 70% of new is good and 50% of new is great if in good condition.
