I am in the process of building a NIB Eagle 2 98. So far the build is going great, man what a nice bird, I can't wait to fly it. Anyway, I will be using a JR 9303, not sure which servos yet, YS 61 ST2, Aerospire gov, and that's all I've got so far.

Is this head close to the ultimate 1:1 flybar ratio? If not is it hard to get it there?

I would love any/all advice anyone cares to give me on the Eagle, or the YS ST2 or anything else your willing to give away, ie blade types(have been eyeballin those SAB FAI blades!!). Thanks for your help and advice.

Servos: Many of us are using Futaba 9255's with superb results.

Engine: The best 61 ever made. Set the high speed for about one turn open, the hover at 1 1/4 to 1 1/2, and the idle for what runs well (generally flush with the barrel). Fine tune from there. 9.3:1 ratio.

Blades: 680-700mm's. Rotortech's are quite good.

Doug Trent or a few other Hirobo guys can comment on the flybar ratio.

Thanks for the info Dr. Ben, I'm really excited about this bird, sure goes together nice. I was eyeballin the OS 70 for but seems I made the right choice by going with the YS ST2, seems everyone that has one loves it.

I am hearing many good things about the Futaba 9255's, are they having failure problems like I keep seeing on the 9252's?

Damn, this thing will swing a 720mm blade? Cool, I've got a new set of SAB 710's and their the new 3D blade(wish I had set of the FAI blades they make), may try them out on it.

Again, thanks for the info.

Oops............nothing more than 680-700's. I was thnking of 91's for a moment when I wrote that.

We have had zero reliability issues with the 9255's. I wouldn't have recommended then to you if we were having trouble. Then again, we never had troubles with 9252's, either.

Ok, thanks for the info Ben. I'll just fly the woodies that came with it for awhile and then get some carbons. Any recomendations for a really nice smooth flying pair of blades? I've seen the FAI blades that SAB offers, how are they? Thanks again!

What gyro would you recommend Dr. Ben? I have been eyeballin the 611 but do see alot of chatter about the new CSM 720. I just want ease of setup and smooth reliable operation. Right now I have a NIB JR 500t w/810 tail servo, thought about using that but would at least have to upgrade the servo. What do you think?

Also, any thoughts on the SAB FAI blades?

I have used the SAB FAI blades. They fly really well. Also the CarbonTech/ RotorTech aka FunKey blades fly really well in F3C. I would suggest the Futaba GY 611/9256 servo combo. I have not used the CSM 720. But I know the 611/9256 works well in F3C.

The SAB FAI blades are semi-sym. correct? Does this have an adverse effect when doing rolls etc? Who sells those Carbon Tech/RotorTec blades anyway??
Thanks for the help David!!

Is this Eagle for FAI or for AMA Classes? For FAI, I would run a symmetrical blade as there are now some inverted pushes and semis don't do as well as symmetricals when loaded while inverted.

The SAB's are symetrical. As Gordie said, we need to use a symetrical blade in F3C for some of the maneuvers. There is several inverted flight maneuvers and flips in the aerobatics of F3C.
Century sells the Rotor Tech blades. They are made by Funkey. Rotor Tech is just the Century name for them. Funkey markets them as Carbon Tech.

Ok cool, thanks for all the info. I've seen the Funkey blades with several colors on them somewhere online before. Thanks again!!
