Have an evo 50 with 401 gyro, gv-1 gov, and 8103 TX...
Running an OS 50 (non hyper)

Here is how its currently setup:

401 Gyro rate on AUX2(channel 7) (per 8103 manual) 70% gain using GYRO menu in the TX.
GV-1 on/off on GEAR channel (5)
GV-1 Rev seting on AUX3 channel (8) mapped to 3 position switch...

Flight Modes: (zero pitch and 50% throttle at mid stick)
Normal = -3 to +10 pitch -- linear throttle curve
Idle 1 = -10 to +10 pitch -- V throttle curve
Idle 2 = -10 to +10 picth -- V throttle curve

I want to map the GV-1 on the 3 pos swith with 3 headspeeds, are these good?

Normal = 1550 rpm
Idle 1 = 1750 rpm
Idle 2 = 1950 rpm

So the part I am still wondering is if I should use the gear switch to turn the GV-1 on and off when i takeoff and land, or setup the GV-1 to switch OFF in Normal mode on the 3pos... ?

Anyone else fly a similar setup?? Am I doing this right? This is my first nitro heli, but I am very familar with helis and setup...

Thanks!

Ok, the main question is...

Is it possible to spool up with the governor enabled? according to the GV-1 manual once it senses your throttle position is at 30%, it kicks in, but below that, it doesnt... will this cause a jolt, or tail kick out on the heli as the GV1 tries to kick it up... is there any kind of "soft start" like on electrics???? or am I thinking too hard on this one...

You can use it like that. When it engauges as you raise the throttle it is a fairly smooth ramp up to the set speed.

are those good headspeeds?

those are fine.

although having a gov. in Normal is, IMO, a waste of time.

1550 was to slow... after flying around, decided on 1750, 1850, 1950
