Now that you sponsored guys are free from censorship, lets hear about anything new that may be coming out.

I know about the tail gearbox, the Ion and the gasser, is there anything else?

Stu,
Right now that is the three latest items that are coming.
The Ionx should begin shipping later this week or next week.
The new tail gear box is suppose to be available late May mid June.
The new Gas helicopter is thru the testing stages and should be available in the next few months.

I will be glad to supply you with additional info as I find out about it.

I've seen the new box in person, those are some really big gears and it feels really smooth. Ain't saying the box is pretty, but I think it will be bullet proof and easy to see if trouble is lurking around the corner. Thing looks built to last the life of the heli.

You Bergen's are such innovators they had to start a new language for you. :)

Interesting how MA likes your open tailbox.

Simple IS good.

Speaking of Bergen, I didn't see Larry in a booth at Toledo this year.

Ahhh.

I was waiting for that question........

Rumor has it that Bergen is going out of business :o :o

Just injecting a little humor here. Actually, we were a little late getting our registration paperwork in and Wayne stuck to his guns and sold our spot to someone else. First time in 11 or 12 years we've missed it. Oh well.

I did see and speak to Larry at Toledo but he did not have a booth there this year, something about being late with his entry and the space being already gone. There was not a lot of new heli stuff at Toledo this year, other than the Ion-X, Fury gasser, and Eagle WC3. JR and Kyosho did not show much of anything heli related this year.

<<JR and Kyosho did not show much...>>

Well, how's this for a juicy rumor or two?

I was told that:

1. Horizon management was/is??? seriously considering getting out of the heli game entirely.

2. The Empire is backing out slowly, with the same intention. The new dump price on the Caliber 30 tends to support this. The source had also heard that one of the reasons The Empire was doing this is because of dying interest from Kyosho itself. He wasn't sure about that, but very sure that slow sales of all things heli-related in their line-up has gotten The Empire's management attention big-time.

I would rate these sources as very reliable. Of course, it ain't done until its done; which is why I say this is rumor only at this point.

While I think the Vigor is an excellent machine, the rest of their current line-up is, well... And I don't believe the Vigor ever recovered from its shaky start. Kit and parts pricing hasn't helped that situation, either. Too bad; I really liked mine.

Kyosho? Well, when all you offer is a Mercedes and a Hyundai, with nothing in between...

What's going on at Hobbico and Japan are indeed different issues. I do know from talking to one of Kyosho Japan's sponsored pilots that Kyosho is fixing to release a new plastic version of the Caliber 90. Your guess is as good as mine as to whether Hobbico will bring it in.

Interesting, Ben.

You're right; any guess is good.

Any word on how much the new style gearbox will cost? Is that stock gears or are they larger than stock?

The new gears are plastic (delrin?) and are larger than the current gears.

They're delrin, at least that's what Timmy said at B'ham, but they are NOT just any delrin, either. He researched the material a great deal, apparently.
