I know its no big deal to you guys but I have been at this for 2 weeks and tonight it just clicked. No telling myself this or that...I was just flying it. Nose in, left, right, tail in...no sweat. I tried a little inverted too which was ok but I just dont have a feel for the inverted collective inputs...yet!

Its 2am, my wife is asleep...I had to tell someone!

I ordered my Heli Card for my Stylus and a Futaba 401 gyro today. I have servos, a CC35 and a few TP 2100 11.1V packs. Now I just have to wait for my new Trex 450 SA to arrive mid Semtember.

Congrats on what is a major milestone, take all of it in baby steps and I feel you progress faster than trying to shotgun the learning curve.

As far as 2:00 AM goes I say wake her up, they like to hear about our success !!!

Congrats! I remember that feeling well.... Just remember what you did and apply it on the model.

I called mine in to watch my first hovering nose-in, she didn't understand why I was so excited... :dontknow

hehe - nice one! - now go and try it for real, high up. The problem I found was my racing heart interfering. Sooo. I had a cold beer - then tried again - and bingo! ;-)

Then a few days later, I took off, a couple of feet of the ground at most and thought "sod it, just pretend it's the sim" - and again I amazed myself.

Nice work - keep it up and it opens a whole new world of flying for you. It's a long process - I'm still not completely at eas with nose it, but I can do it ok.

Before I tried to fly the real thing, I too learned to hover nose in on the sim. I had heard that it was hard to do and took a lot of time to learn. After just an hour or two I had it pretty well in control, so I thought that if this is the hardest I would just practice that way all of the time and tail in would be no problem. Well, when the time came to fly the real thing I was ready.....NOT!! The night before, I went back to tail in for practiceon the sim and I could not keep the thing in one place!! I had spent so much time working on nose in that I had lost almost everything I had learned on tail in. After another couple of hours I had it back in place. I was sure glad that I tried it on the sim before just going out to the field. That would have been very embarrassing to say the least.

Congratulations on your accomplishment and I wish you well with the real thing when the time comes.

I have one minute beeps programmed into my radio. I start tail in for 60 sec, then left, then right, then nose in 60 sec each. That was I keep all my orrientations fluent.

That is a great plan! Wish I would have thought of it at the time. LOL

It IS a big deal and no minor feat.
Here are those steps that you will have to overcome now:

1) Nerves...It's very different when you try to apply it on the real thing
2) Sim versus model...the model "will" react different, but ususally better then the Sim.
3) Landing and taking off "Nose in". Both are major hurdles, don't try until you can fly nose in in your sleep.

Do not miss or bypass step 3 and I recommend to re-install your training undercarriage.
