View Full Version : Thinking of leaving my T-rex 450 for a Swift 16

Lately I have been pondering the idea of selling my Trex 450 to get a Swift 16.

I like my Trex but was looking for something bigger. I have given it alot of consideration. Replacement parts seem to be similar price wise. Batteries would be a new consideration. It seems that 6s2p seems the way to go. Could I use two of my Trex 3s lipos in parallel?

I'm open for suggestions, on setups, to or not to replace my Trex with a Swift.

Thanks

Having been there-- I love how the swift flys over the trex 450. So smooth. The wife kept her trex and loves her swift as well. I opted to sell my trex and go for a swift. Really glad I did. As for battery pack, I am running Emoli cells in both swifts.

I did it and don't regret it. :glasses2:

I'm a relative newbee, flying a basic Trex450XL for the last 18 hours. I am doing FF and stallturns. I want to try a little aerial photo work and the trex while capable can not handle the wind. The budget doesn't fit a Trex600. How much easier is it to fly a slightly bigger / heavier machine like the Swift 16? How relable has it been for you?

I don't crash a lot as I'm quite conservative (not a lot of $$$ to waste). Thanks for your time.

I also migrated from a T-Rex to the Swift and as TJ mentioned the move was an extreme pleasure. EflierI too am like your quite conservative and that is another great reason you will like the Swift. I went the emoli battery route and it’s hard to beat 7-8 minute flights on a battery that costs just under $100. The Swift (like any larger heli) handles the wind fantastic. The first flight I had with it was in conditions that I would be very cautious with when flying my T-Rex. After 3-4 minutes I thought hey the wind is not affecting this at all.

I got the big lecture from the local Align importer last night about how expensive parts are for other helis, and the fact that he lives 1 mile from me. He doesn't seem to uderstand that while I would like a T600, I can't justify the size and battery cost of having a 600mm blade 3D machine, especially when I would be happy with a lighter 520mm blade machine.
