Should be able to change it. Just go into the function control menu and change the channel to the stick function you want. The 9Z,12z,14mz,9c all have that capability. So I would think the fx 40 would have the same function.

You confused me david. How do you change it?

Mode 4 wouldn't require any hardware changes, so simply go into the Function menu and assign each input to the proper function. If I recall correctly, for Mode 4 - J3 is still throttle, J4 becomes aileron, J2 elevator and J1 rudder.

You will have to change the plugs of the servos to the proper channels on the rx also. You will swap the aileron and rudder servo plugs on the receiver.

Servo/channel mapping stays the same. Only change the control mapping (sticks) to a channel. Oh, and make sure to move the trims controls as well.

You guys have me confused. Are you guys talking about going into the hidden menu and changing the mode or something else?

What hidden menu are you referring to? The Function menu is found under the Linkage screen. The Function menu allows you to assign channels to use for the Rx. It allows mapping inputs, e.g. gimbals, to particular functions. Converting from mode 2 to mode 4 is as simple as re-assigning the function control inputs. Other mode changes, e.g. mode 2 to mode 1, require a hardware swap of the gimbal ratchet and a service change to the software plus recalibration. The latter cannot be done by the owner, radio must be sent into service.

David says you can do that with the 9Z and 9C.... How? I dont know of anything like that in my 9Z WCII. If its in there david oughtta know as its his old one.

It is in the FNC menu on the 9Z. On the 9C I believe you acess the menu by holding down both data input keys while powering up.At least that is the way it worked on the 7U, 7US, 8U, 8US. So I would think the 9C and CS work the same.
