Can anyone reccomend a servo for a gv-1. Tail doesn't hold when I change collective. I am using a 240 gyro and servo tries to keep going even after the tail has ran out of travel. Gain is 100% with no tail wagging. Headspeed 1600.
Have been using a very cheap hitec servo for governor since it was not being used. Digital on everything else. Thinking about getting 401 with servo when I purchase new servo. Every time I change collective I have to adjust rudder stick to keep it from spinning. Usually while hovering I have to keep some right pressure on rudder.

First get a heading hold gyro... 401 or better. Put it on and trim out the heli.

The problem is that the 240 is a rate change gyro and only dampens the tail from moving left or right with pitch changes. You want AVCS (futaba terms) or also called heading hold. That's what the 401 does. If you have a realtively fast digital tail servo you are good to go with just the 401.
As far at the Gv-1 servo goes, as long as the transit time is faster than .30ms you are golden. That is as fast as the GV-1 will do a throttle change (So I have been told).

according to manufacturer, gy240 is heading hold (AVCS) at 100% gain, you should have some tail wag. Just my thoughts...

Thanks for the info. Could the fact that I am only using one tail rod support be contributing to the problem of it not holding solid even at 100%. I am using the carbon boom mount for the servo.

If you are binding the servo you need to shorten the servo arm. With the 240 its best to use a blank wheel and find a distance that gives you full throw w/o binding either direction.
