Hello,
About the tail you may use a very good servo from JR but sold only by Graupner (JR is the manufacturer). Its the DS3781. Small mini servo (almost a micro) with 1.8Kg torque and very fast: 0.04sec/40°. Metal gear. In fact it's not so fast. I'd said it's like a Futaba 9254. But it's really fast anyway. And you can feed him with 6V! Got one on my Voyager E and also on my T-rex. It's a lot better (and faster) than the famous S9650. The problem is the price: 112€ official with 19.6% french VAT. i found it inside Paris at 107€. 88.5€ at www.modellbau-bichler.com with the VAT too. Page is in german but i think it's an shop in austria. Maybe you may have some special price by buying some quantity.
Take a look: http://shop.graupner.de/webuerp/servlet/AI?ARTN=5161&SessionCheck=4711&language=en
That should be the killer servo for a Lepton. And its very stong. A friend who is a real barbarian with is V.E. tried to broke it very hard. No succes except the only and small nylon gear inside (replacable of course). But i would not use it for a biger heli than a Logo 10. I think it's the max since it's a small servo.

I forgot, me and 2 friends are using it in digital mode with a Gy401 gyro. No trouble and results are a lot better. Tested! But only on Voyager E.

The 9254 is very easy to install, no cutting or drilling required (see my website for my technique, others have equally sucessful means of installation). Why bother with anything but a real tail servo. My Lepton tail is now rock solid, just like bigger .50 and .90 sized birds. I don't have the tolerance for fiddling around with little servos trying to emulate the performance of the standard tail sytems in our hobby. If you really wanted, you could even put a GY611/9256 setup on.

Well,
This servo is a lot lighter (balance), metal gears and last but not least is really hard to kill in my experience. A lot of 9254 dies quickly. Mostly on biger helis, i know. This is really curious sometimes. I got one that is old and perfect and onother died after 20 to 25 flight on my Caliber 5. I will very probably use a DS3781 on my Lepton when i will buy it (waiting for some pinions choice to exist!)

Fwiw..
I'd like to hear from someone in the States if there is a way to order this servo...I had no luck with the Graupner website, and can't find anyone stocking it in the U.S.

I just started using it and I'll let you know how well it works when I build up some more flight time.

I'm verry sorry to hear that. Well, you can buy it there:http://www.euromodel-online.com/planefr/
It's a shop in Paris selling it a little bit below the official price. Clic on servo then Graupner. From this point you will probably need the help of somebody reading french. Is any smart and nice canadian reading us?
If you really want it i can also buy one, test it inside the shop and send it to you. I got a paypal account... You will then have an extremely rare servo! I'm really ready to do it but all the risks are on your side off course.

I agree the 9254 is the best tail servo if you are running the GY 401. It is night and day better than the 9650.

9254 is good. No doubt about that. But i tried it on a budy's Voyager E and the results was extremely close to what i got with the DS3781. But size and weight are really different. Plus the metal gears of the graupner servo. Even if in this case it may be of no interest. All that is why i prefer it on a small heli. It's also more expensive, i know.

I just got the Logictech 6100 gyro with servo and I am looking forward to installing it. I don't have time to install it anytime soon, freaking work  But from all of the reports that have been coming back, this combo holds as good if not better that the GY 611.
If that is true that is going to be awesome because it is an all in one system which cuts down on the weight of installing the GY611 on helis this size. The tail servo is sooooo freaking fast .05sec/60* on 4.8 V and this combo can run on 6V.
Check it out.
