View Full Version : Pitch Gauge that fits!
While finishing up my 700 build I discovered that my Align pitch gauge (the dial pitch gauge) doesn't fit on the Radix 710 blades. This forced me to eyeball the setup, which to my surprise work very well (blades tracked perfectly!), but doesn't allow for measuring the pitch range or accurately checking zero in other positions.
The Radix blade cord is 62mm and it appears that the Align pitch gauge opens to only 60mm. I've searched for a gauge that would fit but discovered that most sites don't list the actual size of blades that it will fit other than the size of the helicoter. So, not wanting to end up owning a collection of pitch gauges, does anyone know of a guage that will open wide enough?
Thanks,
- GXD
Wow, I didn't realize that. I have the same gauge and my 700 and radix blades are being delivered tomorrow. I'll have to check mine when I get home. I am assuming you removed the little adapter that is for 450 size blades?
You made me go look! The answer is no, I never had it in the gauge. In re-looking at the gauge I noticed that the slider was hitting the pivot nut on the point of the nut. I turned the nut slightly so that the slider was hitting the flat of the nut which allowed another milimeter or so of travel. The gauge will now VERY tightly go on the blade, I'm thinking a little dremel work on the back of the slider will fix the problem!

Just use the tool in the blade holder hole trick and align the tool to be in line with the mainshaft. it's even more precise than a pitch gauge. Since I've started doing this, never ever have I had to track the blades. Ok you won't be able to measure cyclic deflection, but you can feel that in flight. Do you want more throw, just increase the swash mixing value, do you feel the motor bogs, just reduce it.

K10390TA-1 Align Heli Dial Pitch Gauge works on the CY 710 all the way down to T250 too..

This is the gauge that I have, unless there are inconsistencies in manufacturing from gauge to gauge, it won't fit without modifications. I found that if you grind down the end of the slider a little, it will open wide enough to fit and doesn't hurt the operation of the guage. I like NMANNO's suggestion of using a tool through the blade grip, I'll need to try that.
Anyone have ideas or suggestions for setting the flybar & paddles since the flybar is to long for a 6" caliper? I used a metal rule and fine tuned the head with a prop balancer.

The first batch of pitch guages did not fit the radix 710's so align made a chage to them and added a -1 to the end of the part number also the first batch did not come with the 250 adapter plate.

Yeah I have the older one and now it all makes sense.
My Radix 690's came in today and my Align gauge fit thankfully. I bought the cosmetically flawed blades and for the life of me I don't see a flaw in them!! Saved $43!
