I thought I should ask this as I've never mounted a pinion before. The pinion can still rotate on the motor shaft when I rotate it with my hand and I'm afraid not to over tighten the pinion screw. What should I do? Thanks.

Does the motor shaft had a "D" or flat spot cut in it for the set screw to lock down into? if not I would highly suggest you remove the set screw and using a marker put a mark on the shaft and file a small flat spot so the set screw has some place to sit and this won't allow the pinion to turn

Thanks, Foxden. It's the Scoprion 4020-1390 and the shaft doesn't have a flat spot, so I guess I will file it a bit when I'll have the heli :). Should I apply some threadlocker on the screw and/or shaft?

Put the motor in a baggie and poke the shaft thru it so you want get the metal filings sucked into your motor magnets
